One of the major foci of antiX is the promotion of nosystemd installs.

For someone (such as I) who tries to do this AND especially for noobies coming to this distro, a thread about HOW-TO stay nosystemd “pure” might be useful, placed at the top of the “Recent Posts” forum page with other basic HOW-TO subjects.

I realize that some (maybe many) antiX users might be needing to use systemd packages because of other packages they need to use, but that doesn’t reduce the value of such guidance in one place – for us who DO wish to stay nosystemd.

Several existing threads offer material related to this (antiX-22 released: post #90975, How to eliminate libelogind0: post #70992, Pipewire without systemd: posts #96138 and #96147) which could be referenced in such a HOW-TO.

If this is already present somewhere in the forum, I have missed it. (I suggest that thread be “pinned” with the other HOW-TOs.)

Happy to participate in putting this together, although obviously there are others who are better qualified.

My simple fool proof checker when in doubt about a package and dependencies

          sudo apt-get -s install "packagename"

It simulates a install with out installing anything.
Gives me a chance to see what gets pulled in.

Kinda a hassle I know. But a bigger hassle is trying to edit systemd files.
You don’t wanna find out. Updates and upgrades are a no brainer here.

            Hi rokytnji,

Yes, that is the basis of not getting a bad surprise.
