This is just a reminder for those still using antiX-17 series.
Support ends at the end of June, 2022.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Thank you for this excellent series! I used it recently on one of my oldest systems.
I appreciate the fact that recently you have supported three release series: 17, 19, and 21.
With the work for antiX 22 underway and the age of the original 17 series, it’s been a great run!

I hope many other people express their thanks for all of this excellent software.
With each departing release, we see more excellence ahead. Thanks again!

17 is the version with which I started using antiX continuously on my PCs, and it brought me closer to antiX.
Many thanks to @anticapitalista for providing us such a masterpiece and continuing to improve it.

PS: I still remember the very 1st antiX that I tried, it was the one with a lemon as a background. It was a long time ago.
At that time I had a celeron from 1998, 512Mram, and the try was done using the cd/dvd. It was really slow 🙂

Thank you for antix17, i had a lot of fun reviving my chilhood pii PC and getting everything up and running. That computer is running 19 now, I had to upgrade some hardware to get 19 working, so it was awesome you kept 17 going for so long for those who didn’t have that option!

PS I’m running antis and mx 21 on all my other PCs, thank you so much for your work making linux simple and usable. This has been the only distro where everything JUST WORKS. I had to ditch Ubuntu years ago because of the constant glitches, crashes, and lost work. Most other distros are just experimental or esoteric thought experiments with limited to no documentation. Debian is great, but after using antix and MX i cant go back to vanilla debian.

Keep in mind, anyone who can do certain things ‘off line ‘ may continue to use old versions of antiX. When you think about it, the security of the systems are the primary reason we have to keep updating software, but if you can do certain things offline then you can unplug network access and use old systems and old software.

That said I have gone back to at least 2005-2008 systems I have tested also work on antiX 21 runit Base, especially with the patched old kernels! So all is not lost, at least not for everyone.

Keep both of these things in mind – offline use and older security patched software and there’s a decent chance that many systems will continue to work!

Just watched the train leaving the station for the last time, it started me on a journey which I have really enjoyed. Learned a lot and forgot some, met some super and patient teachers also fellow passengers. Very many thanks anti, I hope you can continue and enjoy your special project as much as many of us appreciate your skill and dedication.
                  Wishing good health and happiness.

Well this event caused me to try the runit version of antix-21. Live USB – created with the liveusb maker booted automagically and seems to work well on brief testing.

Will be interesting to see if it works better on this oldish Lenovo Yoga 11e educational model than antiX-17.

Thanks anticapitalista and all others who help support this distro.
