      Hello!
Starting synaptic from main menu does nothing. In the ~/.fluxbox/menu-applications file, Synaptic looks like
[exec] (Synaptic Package Manager) {synaptic-pkexec} </usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48x48/apps/synaptic.png>
In ~/.jwm/menu-applications file, Synaptic looks like
      <Program label="Synaptic Package Manager" icon="/usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48x48/apps/synaptic.png">synaptic-pkexec</Program>
Running sudo synaptic or synaptic-pkexec from terminal works fine.

Any idea what might be causing this?
      Thanks.

Are you using base version of antiX?
Which version of synaptic is installed?

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Yes, I’m using base version of antiX. My bad, forgot to mention this.
          Synaptic version: 0.84.6.0antix1

How come you have such an old version?
            It should be synaptic_0.90+antix3.

Are your repos up to date?

            inxi -r

            to show the repos.

Seems like the antiX repo (mirror) isn’t reliable.

Use repo-manager to choose another one.

                sudo apt purge synaptic

                before installing it again

sudo apt update && sudo apt install synaptic

OK. So, I didn’t remove the earlier one (saw your explanation only afterwards). I just changed repo and updated and upgraded. New synaptic version:0.90+antix2. Also, it is launching from main menu.
                  Thanks.
BTW, would it be necessary to remove synaptic and reinstall?

UPDATE: updated to synaptic (0.90+antix3). Seems like la.mxrepo.com is the reliable one.

Just to remove the old desktop file that uses pkexec, but maybe it wasn’t necessary after all.
