Hi guys is it possible to apply some sort of filter that paints over all programs in antix and “inverts” the color?
This feature is from android operating system, where it is really good for night reading and dosnt hurt the eyes so much.Currently Im using
– dark qt theme for pcman file manager
– darkreader pluging in firefox
– evince document reader with night mode.Which is working great as most of my stuff there. Just for some applications like thunderbird, and libre office I am not sure how to do it.

::Hi donovan,
first thing which comes to mind is redshift.
As far as i am aware pretty much the best application for the job.August 2, 2022 at 8:30 pm #86804Member

::For Libre Office, go to Tools, Options, LibreOffice, Application Colors and change Document background to (as an example) Dark Gray 3 and Font color to Light Gray 4. You can save this color scheme as “dark mode” so you can easily switch between it and the normal colors.

::@Moddit I did do the redshift install after your suggestion – it added a warm color to the orange/red color the screen which is great. As I bought a pair of glasses recently with pink shades to simulate the same effect. I am using the instructions here to get it tailored to myself. Its very similar to “night light” from windows 10.
@blur13 you are the man.

::Regarding Redshift: does anyone know if the program “screenlight” – a script that is included in antiX by default – does the same thing? It seems to, according to the faqs.
I’m just wondering how they compare, if anyone has used both.http://download.tuxfamily.org/antix/docs-antiX-19/FAQ/index.html

::paints over all programs in antix and “inverts” the color
For system-wide, install the 44kb debian package “xcalib”
Check the manpage “man xcalib” to confirm, likely the command you want is
xcalib -i -a
For ease of use, assign the command to a global [[[icewm or other window manager]]] keybind.
edit. redshift, recommended by Moddit, probably is the better choice. It handles remapping the gamma ramp.

::@iznit Yup, I tried it 100% what I was looking for. Much appreciated man, I have “dark mode” enabled on every program I using and if I cant find it I avoid the program. On iOS and android on both there “color inversion”, and windows also so there is definitely a significant use case for it. Thanks again.
