Hi!
I have used Antix/MX for a while, mostly to run servers and to use on older laptops. Now I got another area I need to explore.
I have four kids, two of which have special needs. Tablets/smartphones are really good to give them (and me and my wife) an hour break or so. But they constantly break them. Mostly our older kids (with autism/ADHD/etcetera). My wife constantly search the web for cheap tablets but most of them have older versions of Android and there are always some problems with that (Youtube not working, they are too slow uzw).
Have anyone successfully installed Linux (in any smaller version) on tablets? I know most of them (all) have the ARM-processor so I guess that AntiX would not be an alternative? It would be perfect otherwise I guess. Are there any go-to-guides that I need to know about? From a social and environmental perspective I am really pissed about electronic equipment that would work if there were an alternative OS to install, instead of bloated and generally complicated commercial OS:es. My dream would be the possibility to find and maybe help develop good guides for installation, then I would have a process to go through with each used tablet we buy, and I could also learn the kids how to use the user interface etcetera, introducing them to Linux at the same time.

::I believe Manjaro do an ARM version, although I don’t know any details as I’ve never needed to know. I run the standard Manjaro on one of my laptops, and I’ve always found it to be quite “beginner friendly”. It must be if I can manage with it without any problems! If you do a search on “Linux for ARM processor” it’ll bring some stuff up.

::slackware has good documention on installing their arm release on beagle boards.

pay attention to arm 32 bit hard float ARMV7 statement since we don’t know what you have.
I imagine the steps might be challenging also for a new user not familiar with no plug and play intructions. Like so

::I look forward to the day when more than just a handful of Linux distros are available on ARM devices
Intel`s failure to be competitive in the huge mobile device market, IMHO is the major reason Linux distros are almost non existent on mobile devices.

::If the Pine Tabs ever come back in stock again, they look pretty cool: https://pine64.com/product/pinetab-10-1-linux-tablet-with-detached-backlit-keyboard/?v=0446c16e2e66
You couldn’t install antiX I don’t think, but Devuan has some ARM images, maybe one of them would work.
