::Today’s copy of antiX 21 runit Live (with new kernel) of pre-established composition has about 10Mb smaller memory footprint than yesterday’s one …
There is no change in memory footprint in my systems, which are antiX21 sysvinit, upon upgrade to the latest kernel 5.10.142 v2. For example, on one of my systems, before the kernel upgrade, ram usage after boot is 200 Mb. After the kernel upgrade to 5.10.142 v2, the ram after boot is still 200 Mb. But mine are sysvinit systems. Yours are runit systems.
Also, I have tested this antiX kernel 5.10.142 v2 on all my antiX21 sysvinit systems. I have not seen any problems.

::Exactly the same problem as before (freeze on the green screen at boot).
Out of curiosity I have searched the Web for ‘waiting for /dev to be fully populated’ experience, which appears to be related to enumeration of USB or sometimes some other device from what I read. Users affected by this issue set their booting to verbose mode in order to identify which device was responsible for this holdup and downloaded updated microcode for that device to resolve this issue.
From what I understand from both threads you had this experience with kernel 5.10.57, 5.10.104 and now with 5.10.142.
Question:
Does your computer proceed to boot and finish normally after the timeout expires, after hanging on this message for the duration of timeout?
I think the timeout value is 180 sec…- This reply was modified 8 months ago by olsztyn.

::Which repos definitely have the 5.10.142 kernel (2nd update)? I’ve still not seen it in the antiX repo I have enabled.
I think the repo I am using has conexco listed somewhere in the name.I guess I can grab the two deb files from https://download.tuxfamily.org/antix/Testing/

So those who tested these and are happy with results – do we need to re-install from the repos?

::I grabbed the 5.10.142 linux header and linux image files and installed them today from the test site @
https://download.tuxfamily.org/antix/Testing/I’ve since installed them, then went about normal business, no issues; so just to be sure, I invoked and exited from at least a dozen or more of the apps listed in our menus and everything worked as normal and the kernel behaved normally too.
This was on my Acer Aspire 5; I have not experienced issues there.I’ll go to the Dell Inspiron 5558 next, where previous 5.10 kernels HAVE failed in the past, test there and report back again. So far, thumbs up here!
