      Greetings to all / as, not long ago I installed the distro and I think everything is fine for the moment only when I connect my headphones, the audio comes out both by them but also comes out by the speakers, any suggestions please? From now on thank you!! I also noticed that when you want to start PulseAudio it stays at “Establishing connection to PulseAudio. Plase Wait but hangs out and swims XD

        There should be a Speaker symbol in your system tray. Please right-click on it and chose “mixer” from upcoming menu. Then you’ll get a collection of switches and sliders. Try different settings. It will probably take some time to figure, which sliders and which switches correspond to which output or input line, but in the end you will find out how to regulate headphones, line out and speakers separately from each other.

          We may need information about your hardware
          inxi -Fxnz

          If using pure alsa (no pulseaudio), first see if you can enable “Headphone Jack Sense” in alsamixer
          Menu > COntrol Centre > Hardware > Adjust Mixer
          Use the Right arrow key to move. The third option should say <Headphone>. Move to it and make sure it says (top left) [On].

          If using pulseaudio, make sure you enabled the startup line for pulse.
          Menu > Control Centre > Session > User Desktop Session
          In the startup file, un-comment the line with the pulseaudio. Cut it and move it ABOVE the volumeicon command, so it looks like this:

          # Uncomment if using pulseaudio (you need to install it)
          pulseaudio -D &

          # Puts a volume icon on the taskbar
          volumeicon &

          Restart session and see if you can see in pavucontrol what is the configuration for Jack switching.

            While this doesn’t match directly with your situation, perhaps this low-level code I had to write awhile back to address the fact that I had speakers always attached to my docking-station’s jack, I needed to be able to mute all the external speakers when I plugged headphones into my laptop’s jack; may be slightly helpful:

            /etc/acpi/events/headphone_plugged:

            #TRIGGERED WHEN HEADPHONES ARE PLUGGED INTO THE JACK:

            event=jack/headphone HEADPHONE plug
            action=/etc/acpi/headphonejack.sh plug

            /etc/acpi/events/headphone_unplugged:

            #TRIGGERED WHEN HEADPHONES ARE UNPLUGGED FROM THE JACK:

            event=jack/headphone HEADPHONE unplug
            action=/etc/acpi/headphonejack.sh unplug

            /etc/acpi/headphonejack.sh:

            #!/bin/sh

            #JWT:SCRIPT TO MUTE AND UNMUTE BOTH THE BUILT-IN SPEAKERS AND HTMI VOLUME CONTROLS, SINCE MASTER DOESN'T AFFECT HDMI?!
            #WE TOGGLE Auto-Mute ON WHEN HEADPHONES PLUGGED OR UNPLUGGED SINCE WE CAN'T JUST
            #LEAVE IT ON SINCE WE ALREADY HAVE SPEAKERS PLUGGED INTO THE DOCKING STATION JACK,
            #WHICH ARE CONSIDERED "HEADPHONES PLUGGED IN" (TURN THEM OFF AT THE SPEAKER)!
            #AND THE HDMI CONTROL WE CREATED DOESN'T TOGGLE (WE MUST SAVE CURRENT STATE):
            #A "plug" EVENT SEEMS TO GET SENT MUTING THE PC SPEAKERS WHEN DOCKING (SINCE WE HAVE AUX SPEAKERS PLUGGED IN!
            #THEREFORE WE IGNORE IT WHILST RESUMING FROM SUSPEND (nowifiallowed.tmp exists)!

            if [ x$1 = xplug ]; then
            	if [ ! -f /tmp/ram/nowifiallowed.tmp ]; then
            		/usr/bin/amixer get hdmi_volume | grep "Left\:" | awk '{print $3}' >/tmp/ram/savejackmixer.tmp
            		/usr/bin/amixer -q set hdmi_volume 0
            		/usr/bin/amixer -q set 'Auto-Mute Mode' Enabled
            	fi
            else
            	/usr/bin/amixer -q set Speaker
            	if [ -f "/tmp/ram/savejackmixer.tmp" ]; then
            		prevvol=<code>cat /tmp/ram/savejackmixer.tmp</code>
            	else
            #		prevvol="152"
            		prevvol="100"
            	fi
            	/usr/bin/amixer -q set hdmi_volume $prevvol
            	/usr/bin/amixer -q set 'Auto-Mute Mode' Disabled
            	rm -f /tmp/ram/savejackmixer.tmp 2>/dev/null
