Derek, from DistroTube youtube and LBRY channels over at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMVXCiQoMjA did a very nice video that’s both a how to use Synaptic and a point by point face-off between Synaptic and Ubuntu’s Software Center. Non English speaking users can stream the video from Firefox turning on subtitles and automatic translation to their languages. it’s not perfect, but allows you to understand almost everything that he talks about. Derek only missed the possibility to display application’s screenshots from inside Synaptic.

Oh, and feel free to watch DT’s video about antiX , he loves it!

It was a good video for newcomers to synaptic. I usually watch distrotube’s videos the day he releases them, and this one was a very good promo for synaptic. I do wish he would use antiX or Devuan instead of Arch, it would make his videos a bit more relevant to my systems. But, only Luke Smith of all the good Linux youtubers is using a systemd-free distro (Artix). So at least DT reviews antiX and MX and discusses the problems with systemd.

Yes, Dolphin gives us a lot of super important how-to videos. But I also like a channel like DT’s where you get opinions on the “Linux news of the day” and “boomer ranting in the woods” type videos also. And testing all the different distros and software is useful.
