::Hi, not quite sure what do you use to set up your sound (alsamixer [default] or pulseaudio).
Run
alsamixer
in the terminal/console, increase the two channels:
– Master
and if it does not help, increase also the
– Pre-AmpAugust 6, 2020 at 11:02 am #39904Member

::Master already was on maximum
yes, I increase Pre-Amp to 85 and it looks like better, the sound got louderand there are extraneous noises in the sound, on the same laptop volume and quality in Win7 more better

::Yes, I have experienced the noises as well; I suspect that this was (probably) due to increasing the Pre-Amp.
In order to be fair, I have integrated speakers in my old monitor, i.e. the quality of the HW is rather low.An alternative is to resort to PulseAudio + Pavucontrol.
I believe that this has allowed me to get a slightly better sound or I have stopped taking care.
Sorry I cannot help more. 🙁August 7, 2020 at 6:04 am #39933Memberex_Koo
::Have you tried your keyboard media keys fn + f10 f9
Try playing sound and reduce Pre-amp until the noise stops.August 7, 2020 at 11:34 am #39944Member

::Try using pulseaudio as suggested by sybok. You should be able to go over 100% volume.

::My experience is same as koo.
I wonder if some individual devices are pretty special regarding sound output. I have no experience of issues with
the quoted Intel 82801I HD Audio which is in several of our kids computers.Since adding
.asound.conf in home, standard content as below to our master stick no sound issues encountered on a wild variwety of laptop and desktop devices. If other cards or outputs were required pointing to the correct device worked as it should.
Browsers in the usergroup are: Palemoon, Firefox LTS, Quantum, Tor, Opera, , Slimjet, Netsurf, Badwolf. Maybe others, listed in order of popularity. Badwolf is last because we have been unable to compile latest version...asound.conf content
