Recently (past week?), I have been writing in Leafpad and without notice, I get “thrown out” to the login screen. When I login again, whatever I just wrote (before deliberately saving) is gone.

It may be that my cursor has strayed outside of the Leafpad window, but I am not aware of clicking anything and I don’t know anything that – clicked – would immediately bring me to a login screen. I don’t believe I could have hit the new desktop icon because that is in the lower right of the screen and when I just checked that, it held a login screen, not my document.

I did upgrade the kernel to 4.18.7 from 4.18.4, but don’t see why that would cause this behavior.

      Anybody else seen this?

      thanks.

ctl alt backspace is hot key for logout. ctrl alt delete is reboot. At least on mine.

You might have a hardware problem. Usually dmesg tells all.

Might wwant to poke around in /var?

            Which desktop are you using?
It seems as something going on with the session management.

I had the same problem last week three times.
Once was without any interaction from my side. I was copying a lot of files with spacefm and left the netbook alone for two hours. When I returned, the netbook was on login screen.
This box is running on space-jwm and the 64 bit full installation.
              Everytime spacefm was open.

              Best regards

Was it the slim login screen or was it the xlockmore screen saver login?

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

@Dave, I will check when I am back on that machine. “Unfortunately”, I am in Athens right now and the netbook, where that happened is in Germany.
But the information is good, that there is a logfile. I did not know it. Thank you!

@Anti, /home has plenty of space. I was copying from one ext. HDD to another.
