Ok, again this is for AntiX19 32bit. I left click on time in tray and chose date option. It shows date with time like I want. However on reboot its back to the minimalist four digit time display. Is there a way to make my chosen option persist?

Maybe (maybe not) others will be more accommodating.
I can’t keep track, across threads, what the context might be ~~ live vs installed, which window manager…June 25, 2019 at 4:05 pm #23875Member

I have no idea how IceWM works, to be honest, as I use fluxbox.
Have a look at this:
~/.icewm/preferences
Pay attention to line 64, “Time Format” and 65, “Date Format”.
Modify the clock by right clicking as you did before.
If the preference file doesn’t change the contents in line 64 and 65, then IceWM doesn’t save these changes at all.
To make the IceWM changes permanent, you will have to manually modify the preferences file. For example:
TimeFormat="%A, %Y/%m/%d, %H:%M"
This would look like = Saturday, 2019/06/26 18:00The changes will take effect when you restart session: Logout > Restart Session
The changes will take place once you restart IceWM. In the Menu, moving the mouse on the arrow at the end of “Logout…” will displya a submenu. Select the option “Restart IceWM”.I hope this helps.

::Thanks Xecure. Yes changing format in the IceWM preferences file did it. It has been a while since I had to do everything manually. But thats ok, keeps the old brain active. Though suppose I should keep record of changes I’ve made so they can be replicated.

::On my system, I have set the following values in the file ~/.icewm/preferences:
TimeFormat=”%r”
DateFormat=”%c”06:17:35 PM in the digital clock.
I create similar settings in the display of some of my Web browsers; the time format string %r (lower case r) ensures that hours, minutes, and seconds are displayed in the time field for any application using date and time formats.
