Hello,
I have just installed Antix linux on my laptop. It is the only operating system on the computer. During installation I configured timezone (Europe/Warsaw) and indicated that my hardware clock is set to local time. After the installation everything was fine and the time was correct until I configured network connection. As I connected to Internet the clock was moved 1 hour forward. It is 15:11 now and linux clock shows 16:11.
What can be the reason of such behaviour and how to correct the time settings?

::Try to see if the timezone is still correct using the time and date tool in the Control Centre
Control Centre > System > Set Date and Time > Chose Time Zone and again set your timezone. Then, in the same program, “Use Internet Time server to set automatically time/date”
Hopefully this fixes the issue permanently.

::I tried what you suggested and
1) Time zone is correct
2) If I select to manually set time nothing is changed (the time is still moved 1 hour forward)
3) When I choose to update time from Internet the time is correct for few seconds and then it moves forward again.Lisior

::Are you connecting to the internet with WIFI or Ethernet cable? If the former, are you using connman (icon in bottom right in the panel)?
If connecting through Ethernet cable, it is probably using connman and connman is getting the date and time from your modem/router.
We can confirm if connman is to blame by using the program “antix wifi switch” (Menu > Applications > antiX >) and selecting ceni. See if after this change (update internet time) the time again changes to a wrong time.If you don’t mind doing this for us, we can confirm if connman is to blame for this behavior. We have been investigating another issue related to connman and your tests can help us confirm if this behavior is also related to the misconfiguration.

::What if you set hardware clock to UTC?
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

I connect using Wi-fi, I am not sure what you mean by conman.

::What if you set hardware clock to UTC?
If I use hwclock –utc hwclock shows 18:22 and GUI clock shows 17:22.

::Did you reboot after setting UTC?
Now I rebooted and both hwclock and GUI show 17:39 (an hour later than local time)

::Now try sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
After doing so I got:
Current default time zone: ‘Europe/Warsaw’
Local time is now: Fri Jan 22 17:48:47 CET 2021.
Universal Time is now: Fri Jan 22 16:48:47 UTC 2021.But those are incorrect by 1 hour it is 16:52 local time now.

::Try using the program I mentioned (antix-wifi-switch) to change to using ceni as the wifi manager (the other connection manager is named “connman”). After connecting to the internet, try again to sync your time with the internet time. If after a while the time doesn’t change, I think connman was to blame, as there is a configuration active we can disable.
If you confirm that the time keeps correctly after rebooting, then open a terminal and run
sudo geany /var/lib/connman/settings
and make sure under [global] you can see these options (add the if needed):[global] OfflineMode=false TimeUpdates=manual TimezoneUpdates=autoSave and exit the file. Then run the antix wifi switch again and select connman (select “yes” to revert the changes ceni did to your system). See if after again re-syncing the internet time and rebooting that the problem of time change no longer occurs.

::Thanks Xecure. Your method worked. After changing Wi-fi manager and editing conman settings (there was no such file before) the problem disappeared. Time is set correctly and updating time from Internet time server does not change it.
The problem is solved, so the thread can be closed.

::Thread is called closed but if connmann is given the data it needs it will set time correctly.
The application can and does set time correctly, connect5 to internet and should, once I figure
out how to use it correctly allow mw to set non tracking DNS servers all in one place.Gwetting the antix DNS setup to work with the servers I want to use is not really user friendly,
that is not to criticize antiX, just to say that using one application for network setup is
at least my interpretation of efficiency. And yes, Intel has done a good job as main conttributor
with the development of connmann. tool from clear linux. -
