Am I not quite awake yet or is the edit button already missing after a short time (under 12 hours) in the forum?

::If I don’t remember wrongly, I think editing a comment is between 24 and 48 hours, and unlimited time if it is your own post/thread.
The only ones that can edit indefinitely are moderators.
Is there also a limit of how many times you can edit a comment?
I experience that also you need to wait at least 5 minutes before editing or publishing a new comment, because the system will think I am a spammer and block my edit/post.The forum software is a bit strict.

::I confirm this “bug” on the forum software- many times my own post, on my own thread is locked after a short ammount of time (minutes, not days)

guessing: Elsewhere within the wpbuddypressadmin code, timezone offset is not being considered…
so the net effect for some users will be an “expiration” immediately after posting.October 1, 2020 at 12:40 pm #42457MemberModdIt
::Hallo all,
Skidoo wrote: time zone offset is not being considered. Canny thoughts, his idea is confirmed.I posted, time and date shown October 1, 2020 at 12:13 pm. Now Located in time zone Berlin CEST (Central European Summer Time)
UTC/GMT +2 hours. At posting time here was 20:13 pm. on October 1. Later we would also have a date difference for a number of hours.
Is the forum hosted in Managua, Nicaragua, that CST and 8 hours behind us CEST -6 + 2 that fits.In this case, according to forum time I posted in the past and my edit time is thus at time of post already in minus..

::I mentioned in PM to certain members I bypass the time out by pre-making my post in geany or leafpad and copy and paste/edit when I decide to post a essay.
I learned this method on other forums with stricter edit time limits than this one.All my old forum install and lengthy posts were done using that method,
Code tags here require editing by me after copy and paste. It taught me how to read the tool bar :code , /code
So I could keep track of where I was at during a edit.

This is an excellent suggestion, something that I have done myself more than once when forum software required a quick response.
It’s a good idea in general. It also allows for the possibility to create a local folder of comments and notes. Not everyone requires this, but writing notes on your own system and copying them to the forum can be done very quickly so it solves timeout or response concerns. Great idea.

::bypass the time out by pre-making my post in geany or leafpadYes this is a good advice, and for longer posts it is always advisable to save it on the pc,
but here we are talking about how long a post is still editable after it has already been published.3 hours is a rather short time span, also because it is only possible to mark a thread as solved by editing it.
