I am not sure if this is by design or some perhaps unintentional:
      Control Centre:
      – IceWM settings are gone. JWM and Fluxbox still there.
      – Under Software: antiX updater and antiX Autoremove are gone
      – Under System tab: Toggle Firewall appeared but does not seem to toggle firewall in my case. Should this not be in Network instead?
      – Under Network tab: ‘Select WiFi Application’ is gone. Ceni still there.
      – Under Session Tab: Login Manager is gone?

The above changes are testing under IceWM session.

Some of the above might be intentional design. I am just reporting my observations…

        Intentional.

I split antix-goodies into these separate packages.

Feel free to install what you need.

        antix-goodies (this will automatically update)
        android-device-usb-connect-antix
        antix-firewall-toggle
        antix-wifi-switch
        icewm-goodies-antix
        login-config-antix
        pmrp-antix
        set-time-and-date-antix
        sound-card-antix
        trash-antix
        yad-goodies-antix

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

I think I like this concept. Sounds like further modularity of components…
So e.g. current Firewall Toggle, which does not seem to work for me, I would need to install if I wanted it. In my case I do not want it, so I do not install it.
In such case how do I remove this Toggle button or do I need to uninstall something?
          Thanks again…

Ok, I just updated my antix 22 Full, 64bits, runit… Here’s what happened:

-I did not notice anything missing from Control Center Tabs:

            – IceWM settings are still there.
            – Under Software: antiX updater and antiX Autoremove are still there
            – Under System tab: Toggle Firewall did not appear for me
            – Under Network tab: ‘Select WiFi Application’ is still there
            – Under Session Tab: Login Manager is still there

-I noticed we do have new settings available under Mouse options– including disabling touchpad – very nice!!! Well done, Dave!
antiX updater is still not localized – and that may scare some users, that do not speak english, and will stop using it to update their systems (that may affect many Brazilian users, I think)
            – Mx’s deb-installer got automatically installed – it does not work. It refuses to run with sudo, and if I run it as regular user I get this:

            Installing selected package please authenticate

Error executing command as another user: Not authorized

            This incident has been reported.

            EDIT:

Themes – I was happy to see that FX-dark and FX-light themes were added – unfortunalty their installed version do not work for me – only the default window decorations come up (empty buttons)… The versions I have installed in ~/.icewm/themes work great.

Edit2: I just noticed- if a theme in the default place and in ~/.icewm/themes exists, the one on the default theme will fail.
Fix: delete (or rename) the theme(s) in ~/.icewm/themes
Many thanks for including them, anticapitalista! I think they help make antiX an even more modern OS than the default icewm themes!

            P.

update: several of us, myself included, originally missed the fact that these are changes that are going into the Sid environment for inclusion in antiX 23.
I’ll check these the next time I use my Dell laptop, which has the antiX 23 testing image.

For second time after upgrading the packages it showed something like “Critical gtk2…” before crushing my updater.
The updater only dues sudo apt upgrade and desktop-menu –write-out-global so there shouldn’t be a problem and I didn’t get this problem before.

                sudo apt upgrade && sleep 1 && desktop-menu --write-out-global && sleep 1 && yad...

                The upgraded pakages:

I definitely like such modularity as outlined by anticapitalista… Various antiX components/options can be installed if wanted. Do not install if not needed.
                  Important components installed by default…
                  Beautiful!

Edit – none of the packages that anticapitalista mentioned are yet available in my repo. I can’t wait to test them, of course!
I did describe my system on my original post, but, I would like to add that I’m NOT running “sid”, just the usual Repos- I need this computer for work, I can’t play around with it that much!

@anticapitalista – I’m not sure that this is the correct thread to talk about deb-installer’s problems, if so, please, either delete or move this post.

Running deb-installer from the terminal provided lots of output (no surprise, it works in a very similar way to my own script).
I noticed how it tried to install the .deb package:

x-terminal-emulator -e bash -c ‘echo Installing selected package please authenticate; echo; pkexec apt -o Acquire::AllowUnsizedPackages=true reinstall “/home/ppc/Transferências/peazip_9.0.0.LINUX.Qt5-1_amd64.deb”; echo; read -n1 -srp “Premir qualquer tecla para fechar”

                        changing that command to:

x-terminal-emulator -e bash -c ‘echo Installing selected package please authenticate; echo; sudo apt -o Acquire::AllowUnsizedPackages=true reinstall “/home/ppc/Transferências/peazip_9.0.0.LINUX.Qt5-1_amd64.deb”; echo; read -n1 -srp “Premir qualquer tecla para fechar”‘

                        Makes it work.
I still think that using gksu to get elevated privileges (needed to install a package) would be a better option, for folks that prefer installing packages the GUI way.

                        P.

@PPC – do you have pkexec installed?

                          I don’t (antiX-22) and deb-installer works correctly.

x-terminal-emulator -e bash -c 'echo Installing selected package please authenticate; echo; sudo apt -o Acquire::AllowUnsizedPackages=true reinstall

Yes, I do. I just tested. Once again, I’m on antiX 22 runit, not on sid: can that make a difference?

No idea why. This install is pretty recent, some weeks old. But I installed gnome’s appstore on it, it may have dragged in that dependency.
