is this some (very) old version of torbrowser-launcher?
        apt policy torbrowser-launcher ?

this error was fixed long time ago…

            close torbrowser-launcher, try this workaround : https://github.com/micahflee/torbrowser-launcher/issues/263#issuecomment-778458226
            and retry from menu..

              Thanks, but, unfortunately, same error.

                Error Code: E53D989A9E2D47BF: Bad signature

this is an old gpg key, as you can see in latest try. torbrowser-launcher should use 4E2C6E8793298290 key to verify…
                i’d suggest completely removing :
                /home/user/.local/share/torbrowser/
                /home/user/.cache/torbrowser/

                and retrying..

                    so, abort torbrowser-launcher solution.
download torbrowser from torproject, unpack in some dir (eg. /opt) and run from there.
                    (eg. /opt/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser )

if everything works as supposed, add a .desktop file as menu entry/launcher.

Thanks, but, isn’t it the same as what Xunzi_23 wrote in his post #96285? I wrote that it worked for me (#96350), but I wondered if tor installed this way keeps updated (#96391). Xunzi_23’s reply (#96406) let me some confused, and then you posted the first of your suggestions.

sorry not much time to read entire thread history, but yes torbrowser gets updated automatically whenever there’s new updates (with notifications)…
torbrowser-launcher isn’t any different, its main task is to facilitate downloading torbrowser. so same result, same torbrowser.

One of the reasons I prefer the direct download is it does not pull in any extra packages. Pls see simulated install below for further details in that regard.

                          $ sudo apt install -s torbrowser-launcher

                            Hi Everyone,

Is the “Download Error: 404” some, including myself, are getting, going to be fixed so we can install the Tor Browser through the packageinstaller? If not, perhaps it would be better to remove it from the packageinstaller.

                            Sincerely,
                            Lars.
