Hello to the community! I’m new to Linux and have installed AntiX 21 on Virtualbox 6.1 on an older mid-2009 Macbook. Everything seems to be working fine, but my limited knowledge of Linux is causing me some grief at this point. I’ve searched the forums and internet, and tried a couple of things, but figure it’s best to go to the experts to teach me. I want to use the TOR browser. I download the compressed package. After extraction, I end up with the TOR browser folder and an icon of the Safari logo for the desktop initiation TOR file. No matter how I’ve tried to run the file, I only get a text file when I try to open the browser. My research has led me to believe that I might need to make a change in order to make the file executable, but none of the options I’ve tried have worked. Can anyone please help out a noob on how to get the TOR browser working on the latest antiX? Thank you so much.

::Hi and welcome.
You should try to install Tor from antiX’s Package Installer – just open the Package Installer (from the toolbar, the menu, Control Center, etc) and search for “Tor Browser Launcher” and install it from there. (Please note that antiX 21’s Package Installer still has problems installing some software, and that it may not work correctly- if it fails to install, let us know and we’ll try to figure a way around that problem).P.

::Well, crap. I probably tried every possible way except the proper and easy way. I have now installed Tor Network and Privoxy and the Tor Browser Launcher from the package installer and it seems to be working properly. Thank you so much for your time and your assistance!
