      Dear developers,

      Why was this experimental feature enabled in zzzfm for antiX21/22?

      I never show bookmarks in zzzfm and had not seen these new directories;
      /home/wallon/.local/share/Trash/files/1000071926345.pdf
      /home/wallon/.local/share/Trash/info/100000071926345.pdf.trashinfo

      How to delete all files in the Trash directory? Do we have to do it manually on each file and press the “Del” key?

      In other Linux distributions, there is a bin on the desktop to empty the files. On my desktop, I don’t have a bin.

      Is it necessary to install a program (BleachBit for example) to clean the disk?

      Thank you in advance for your support.

      Best regards,
      Wallon

        You can delete files and info folders inside .local/share/trash, because they came back automatically when you put something into Trash.

          I don’t use the “Put in Trash” option.
          I use the pop-up menu option “Delete” or by using the delete key.
          It is strange not to have a tool (a trash icon) on the desktop.

            It isn’t. You must have added it manually.

            Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

            antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

              It’s possible you did this during the activation of ft10-transformation.You can tick or untick a few things there on the second screen.The first thing is “Configure zzzfm File Manager”, which is ticked by default.

                @anticapitalista, @caprea
                I confirm, I also use FT10.
                The Trash is an option that still needs to be improved.

                Thanks to all,
                Wallon

                  It is included only in 23a1, because most people expect any modern OS to have that feature… So anticapitalista decided to include it, I guess. It is already available under FT10…
                  Thrash related menu entries and .desktop file was improved, in antiX23. FT10 is on hold, for now, I’m focusing my time on helping out with antiX23. It now has some features adapted from FT10 (like some improvements to zzzfm, the Trash, a GUI way to manage essential desktop settings, a GUI way to manage Personal menu favorite entries, etc).

                  How to “take out the trash”:
                  You have the “Trash” bookmark on zzzfm. It’s like any regular folder, you can click it, to access it’s contents and select what you want to permanently delete (Ctrl + A) selects everything. So, to empty the Trash, select everything, right click and select “Delete”, confirm you want to delete. Done.

                  antiX 23 should come with a small script to make emptying the trashing even simpler (it baffles me, that the process I outlined above can be too complex for some people)

                  Sometimes I regret making more features available… It always seems to complex, for someone… My aim is making antiX easier to use, not harder…

                  P.

                    Wallon, when you use the ‘delete’ button in certain programs, they will create Trash folder if it does not exist and place the deleted document file there. Afterward, when viewing zzzfm, that Trash folder is displayed if it exists and folder view is active in the left side pane.

                      Dear iznit,

                      I never see the Trash in zzzfm because I never activate the bookmark display. It was really by chance that I discovered this function activated.

                      Look at my screenshot with zzzfm. I always work like this in zzzfm. You can’t see the Trash.

                      With my Windows, Android, MX Linux… reflexes, I thought there would be a Trash icon on the desktop.

                      I know that this function was requested by many people. I thank PPC for developing this feature. Now I know there is a Trash directory and how I have to empty it.

                      Thank you all,
                      Wallon
