I don’t know what you changed there, but why right after installing the system on split 2, next to the Mac and Windows
      Antix refuses to start?
It gives an “error” as if I do not have grabs installed
BUT, I didn’t do ANYTHING used!
I did everything from experience with 19 versions and 21 beta versions!
They were installed normally, and if there was something wrong, I could install the boot on the linux partition using window-10 (there is a program that can create a boot menu for a partition in linux, add a boot menu to boot)
But, with this version, nothing works AT ALL ((((
Why did you uninstall beta 21 from sourforge?
She was wonderful for me, “you messed up something in the release” ((
How is it that the beta was better than the current release?

I repeat, I have already installed this distribution 20 times, 19 version and beta 21!
Everything was great, but this “Release” refuses to run the installed system on the second partition!
And at the same time, it breaks the system load! ((
Fortunately, I have a second flash drive from Windows10, on which you can write the command: bootrec.exe/fixmbr

      and loading into Windows begins!

This error only occurs on your new distribution!
On other Linux projects, there is no such thing
      Well, for example, garuda !

      Fix it?
      or how me fix it?
      i want use New version!

        Hi,

Please answer the below suggestions/questions and be patient and more constructive about solving your problem (i.e. less emotional outburst; we understand your frustration, most of us have been there in the past, but the complaints provide very little information to start solving your problem with).

        0) Specify exact name of the ISO, e.g. ‘antiX-21_x64-base.iso’.
If you could provide more information about your machine such as output of ‘inxi -Fxz’ (from Live-USB) or at least data from windows, more experienced forum members may provide help.

        1) Did you check integrity of the downloaded ISO using check-sums?
        2) Do you install with UEFI/legacy (+secure-boot) enabled in BIOS?
        3) Information about bootloader installation (your choices when setting up the installation):
Did you install it to MBR (warning: will override Windows’ bootloader)?
Did you choose or set up (incl. prior to the installation, see e.g. 2)) *anything* differently when compared to the antiX-21 beta?
        4) It gives an error:
When, how, what’s in it? You can take a picture of the error message.

system is full, x64 download from HERE official page
          1) No. (im sure its good 99%)
          2) my pc-legacy, only BIOS + MBR HDD disk with windows10, mac os . Secure boot disabled. (
          3) in beta 21 full, i select to ROOT PARTITION, and mbr to – after re install (its work in BETA 21)
but now … cant select rejime where install grub.
only for mbr ; ( 21 finial full bad work installation (succes install os, but cant but in os)
          see:
i succes install not beta 19 version (full) and 21 BETA (full)
          all work good, not problems

I have little experience with forums, I write “how I can”, a lot of unnecessary things, and so on, but, “I’m getting old” write “normally”

I am completely sure that I did everything exactly the same as in previous times, nothing has changed
moreover, I can now install 19 version again, and there will be no errors
but if I install the release version now, it will be installed, but not loaded into the system
there is an error like “system not found” or something like that
I have had this before, with other systems, when the bootloader did not install – but, I definitely did everything right when I set up the “system installation”
the only thing that confused me is that the choice “where to install the bootloader” somehow does not look right, there seems to be only mbr available
although in beta, and in version 19, you could choose from 3 items
          pbr
          root
          mbr

          is my mistake “unique?” (
I didn’t seem to do anything ordinary, I did everything as always
          and everything usually worked!
in the new version, release, full, for some reason it does not come out
What could have changed that the system could not be installed normally? What changed after the beta?
          I’ve never had this before
it feels like the beta was more stable than the release (

            Hi,

            thank you for more information.
            0) I assume it is the “default” sysvinit (not ‘runit’) version. Still missing more information about the hardware.
            1) Hard to know without checking explicitly; I ran into failure to install once and it was due to corrupted download.
            2) It seems that you may already have a lot of partitions with so many systems.
Could you post list/screenshot of partitions and partitioning type (e.g. GPT)?
            3) If the choice where to install bootloader “does not seem right”, then perhaps testing integrity of the downloaded ISO might be worth a try after all.
            4)

not loaded into the system there is an error like “system not found”

Does it mean that antiX’s bootloader is the default and that the option selected by default starts to boot and the boot fails with the aforementioned error?
Did you try to select other options available in the “table” with variants to boot into?
If yes, then was the error the same or were you able to boot?

Is it unique? Not sure. I know some people had issues with too old/new HW due to new/old kernel or corrupted system.
Also, there were some issues with graphic card no longer supported by Xorg.
(That’s why providing information about the HW is repeatedly brought up when someone reports a problem of this kind.)
Have you tried to search in the forum for similar problems? You could try ‘fail to boot’ or whatever reasonable description of the error.

Maybe this video will help. It’s MX Linux, but the installer is basically the same. So it may help you figure our what to do next:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_Xz4GJO9Bo

If I read you post right, the changes in the installer were confusing to you. Others thought so, too.

Regarding Grub. You’ll want to choose mbr if antiX’s grub controls the computer’s bootloader. Choose pbr if Windows or some other OS’s bootloader does. Don’t choose esp. (You said the computer is legacy bios.)

              I hope this helps. 🙂

              confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019

The installer is the same from the betas to the release. But yes, it is confusing for some folks.

How can you say your download is good if you haven’t run the integrity checks? That seems to me to be basic. Run the checksums first before you declare it “good”. And 99% is not the same as 100% is it?

Sybok is giving you good help. Work with him by answering his questions and don’t assume you are looking at everything correctly.

I found how to fix my problem
Since in the beta version there was a choice where to put the bootloader, namely, root, mbr on disk 0
And in the release version, the bootloader can ONLY be installed on the USB disk from which the antiks are installed
So, now I did it, and now I can boot into this Linux!
and the flash drive is no longer needed, so in my Windows bcd boot utility allows you to add a Linux partition to the boot
that is, by default, Linux cannot be installed on a disk, with a Linux system
                            disk 0, third partition
There is only a choice in the installer, on the disk from which Linux is installed
and if you try to reinstall grab2, then the system does not boot

There is a LOT you can do with GRUB, and I’ve never experienced any limitations on its capabilities, not with antiX, nor with any other distribution.

You can use another boot loader or whatever you wish, but if you really are interested in learning how to use Linux software properly, reading up on the boot loaders and boot managers is a very important thing to do.

This is only ONE of the MANY articles you can find about boot loaders:
                                https://www.tecmint.com/best-linux-boot-loaders/

Here is specific documentation about GRUB that applies to any distribution:

I’m glad you found a solution. But to me, your written explanation does not make any sense.

For onlookers, make sure you do the integrity tests if you are having problems. And make sure your USB is cleanly formatted prior to using for the antiX iso file. Consider using LiveUSB maker to make your antiX Live USB bootable. And consider using Grub instead of the Windows bootloader.
