I have tried the suggestions xecure gave in https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/i-cant-get-any-bluetooth-device-to-pair-with-my-pc/#post-49552 and I can get the headset to pair, but I notice that the bluetooth manager does not think its an audio device, and the pulse audio volume control doesn’t see it at all.
If anyone else has gotten this to work, could you please provide a list of what you installed and what needed to be configured? This machine was originally installed as antiX 21 64 bit full, and is up to date with the 4.9 kernel, but I didn’t have any better luck with antiX 22 64 bit full with the 5.10 kernel, and it didn’t work with MX 21 Fluxbox, either.
I spent another day trying, and thus far it has only worked with Win/10 and my android phone. It almost works with Slackel, but that OS can’t connect to the Internet after its installed. I have been avoiding trying Debian and Ubuntu due to their systemd.

::I do it just the same as Xecure described, the above picture from blueman looks like the pairing already didn’t go well. What does Miscelanious mean?
To the right of the search input field I have 2 icons here. The key for pairing and the diamond for trustworthiness.I take a picture.Maybe also try a newer kernel.
In your sources list the sources from deb.multimedia.org are set to enabled.
This is absolutely not recommended and the system will probably break sooner or later.
(You sure know this. It is mentioned again for all users)Attachments:

::Caprea, the different icons are likely because we must not be using the same icon set, so no big deal, there.
But Miscellaneous is definitely wrong. Slackel showed it as audio, but I didn’t get sound. Your Headset looks correct. But where do those values come from and what configuration files store them?
I removed deb.multimedia from my repo list and ran an update. I then reinstalled all the packages for bluetooth and pulseaudio. I’ve been trying to get this headset to work on Linux for 3 years now. It works real well with the phone and Windows.

::Although I do not have a solution to this issue or even an explanation, my experience with bluetooth speaker supporting bluetooth version 5.0 connection to antiX 22, kernel 5.10.142 is as follows:
– When pairing the glyphs (icons) on the right side of the divice displaying in Bluetooth manager first appear and then disappear after about two second. Device appears to be paired though successfully. The missing glyphs in the snapshot provided by BobC is missing these connection glyphs. Have they appear when pairing?
– When connecting the device (I use right mouse click) the above mentioned glyphs appear and the bluetooth speaker sounds ‘connected’ tone.
Some bluetooth devices I found difficult to connect to antiX but they are mostly supporting bluetooth version lower than 5.0.
I would find this interesting to determine the cause of this (as reported in this thread) issue and it appears to me that all pieces of software infrastructure are in place (Blueman, Bluetooth manager, Pulse Audio). If this device is not recognized as audio device, what kernel is in this antiX used? And twhich bluetooth version does this device support?
The missing glyphs (Icons) on the right in Bluetooth manager means to me that no properties of device have been determined.- This reply was modified 5 months, 2 weeks ago by olsztyn.

::Mine has a little gray checkmark to say its trusted.
My machine is no longer able to boot at all with since installing the version 5.10 kernel. After that I tried getting it to use 4.19 and then 4.9 newer, and then 4.9.279, and slimski comes up, but X no longer works for any of them. It says Xauthority is missing. I was able to get it to a command prompt, but getting many errors. I will take a picture later I guess. It looked like they are related to the hardwired ethernet.
It’s not my day I guess….

Sorry to hear. I infer that you are doing this on traditionally installed antiX and not on antiX Live usb… Changes leading to such trouble are sometimes more difficult to back out in a clean way.
In any case I trust you will succeed in making this work and satisfaction of saving your machine will pay for the effort…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

Did someone say “you already knew that changing kernels is risky business”?
This is where I get to test my backup and restore strategy.

::Did someone say âyou already knew that changing kernels is risky businessâ?
This is where I get to test my backup and restore strategy. This exposure is only when you run traditionally installed Linux. I am running Live from or in two cases from SATA internal hard drives in my two laptops, but also installed as antiX Live on those internal hard drives. So I have not been exposed to the typical risks of the traditional installed antiX, as the only backup I need is a usb stick with a prior version.
So I do realize that if you mess up your primary environment (easy to do so) in a traditionally installed antiX then it is tricky to get back to clean version before chaanges…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::No, I’m back up and running, but I admit to being tired from the effort. I keep a copy of my main partition on the SSD that was able to boot and run.
NCDU showed me the problems, and I got enough of them fixed pretty quickly that I was back up and running in an hour.
Someone recently had problems with antiX22 Base, and by mistake I had downloaded it to my main partition and not noticed. I also installed an appimage of Pinta, which worked pretty well to create the icons for my new theme that one person besides me is is interested in, but I found out tonight that it had taken 2 gb of space! Add that to 5 gb for a PlayOnLinux game, and then download 3 and install kernels, and you get 0 bytes free and a black screen.
But tell me about how you are installed to your SSD? It sounds cleaner, I think. How and where do you install the ISO files? And what is in the Grub to boot it? And where do user installed programs go? Maybe create a thread in Tips to tell people how to set it up?

::But tell me about how you are installed to your SSD? It sounds cleaner, I think.
What I meant was that I typically run antiX on all my many laptops in Live mode, even if installed as Live on internal drive. Two of my laptops are such. antiX is installed as Live on their internal SATA drives as described some time ago in this forum by Christophe and Xecure.
Namely, after booting from antiX Live USB, running live-usb-maker from the terminal:sudo live-usb-maker –force=usb
and following options, such as leading partition, encryption, etc, will install antiX to the internal SATA drive and subsequently boot from such internal SATA in Live mode.
I typically run Live without persistence, after setting everything to the way I want antiX to be configured with all software installed and configured.
In this way I have everything set up for day-to-day shape. Remastering such antiX on the internal SATA works the same way, so sets all such antiX instance ‘in stone’. I can make any changes I want and experiment with anything I want. If I want to keep any changes then I remaster, if not then just reboot to return to the established, configured pristine state.
This way if in the course of my experimentation I mess up anything or am unhappy with any newly installed software then I just reboot. Upgrades and improvements I do test thoroughly before I set them in permanently as new baseline master version for all laptops. Piece of mind…If you have multiple systems (such as Linux or Windows) installed on the internal SATA and started from Grub, then an equivalent mode would be to have antiX in Frugal mode or even multiple instances of such, on the internal SATA.

::hi there, antix folks!
well, what a pain it actually is to get bluetooth working and playing audio on airpods/speakers , i don’t know who had developed blueman aimed to transfer files? who ever uses bluetooth nowadays to send and receive files? Will it more user oriented to have blueman or whatever aimed to operate with audio devices? Antix sucks so far, no bluetooth, faulty wifi, cannot detect webcam….it does not seem to be user friendly at all, sorryApril 1, 2023 at 5:17 am #103793MemberRobin
::no bluetooth, faulty wifi, cannot detect webcam
Depends completely on whether hardware manufacturers care for providing linux drivers the same quality as they do for windows drivers… Simply use hardware for which full linux support is provided by the manufacturer and it will work out of the box.
faulty wifi
As said, it depends on your hardware manufacturer. I have never seen wifi fail on antiX on my devices, they connect the minute antiX boots up.
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

::I really do know what it’s like to be frustrated.
Did you read this thread from the beginning? It might be good reading if you want bluetooth to work. Too bad you didn’t find it sooner, before you decided antiX was the problem. Who knows, maybe it could be part of your problem, but you won’t get any help by treating the people here badly.
If you read it, you would know that the 4.9 kernel won’t work, or at least it had no chance on my machines.
You need to lose the anger. Edit your posts above to be reasonable or you will be gone.
Try to remember that you didn’t pay anyone here to help you. We are all here helping each other for free and for fun making things work.
