      Hey everybody,
I have succeeded in launch correctly slim and i3. Essentially I’ve installed xorg, slim and i3. Then changed the login_cmd value at /etc/slim.conf to “exec /bin/bash -login /etc/X11/Xsession”.
It starts after my login with “sudo slim”. Now I’m searching for the best location to launch slim at startup. Any tips??
      Thanks for your time.

      Put it at /etc/init.d/rc.local file.

        sudo sysv-rc-conf
scroll down to find the row mentioning slim. Typically slim is set enabled for runlevels 2 and 5.
        press q to exit sysv-rc-conf
reboot to confirm that slim is now autostarted as desired

        Put it at /etc/init.d/rc.local file.

        ???

Installation of the SLiM package would have (already) placed a file /etc/init.d/slim

Just puted a “slim” line in rc.local cause it doesn’t automatically initialize and I thought that is easiest this way. I’ve noted that default runlevel is 5 and it enters directly in 3. It’s confusing, but I got the “3” boot option and changed to 5. Now it’s all ok, looking for lightweight web browser. Thanks a lot.
