      Hi antiX community.

Over the years I’ve become accustomed (addicted?) to using a twin-panel file manager. In recent years my choice had been ‘Krusader’; Indeed that’s why I use MX-KDE as my main distribution.

On a low-resource system, antiX(21) is more appropriate. I’m reluctant to install Krusader and bring all its ‘foreign’ KDE libraries on board, so I’m looking for an alternative. For now, I have installed ‘Sunflower‘ (with some difficulty). This works but lacks some features that I love in Krusader, e.g. the ability to create symbolic links by dragging and dropping. I’m not too worried about network functionality. I intend to handle that with sshfs via command line or /etc/fstab.

I’m not averse to writing python plugins for Sunflower but – being eternally lazy – would prefer a a ready made alternative. Any suggestions, anyone?

        Have you tried Midnight Commander?
Easiest way to access it, is from Terminal. Type “mc” (without quotes) at command line.

zzzFM is installed on antiX and can be multi-pane

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Thanks. I have acknowledged that your reply is helpful and I have indeed used mc in the past, but now I’m looking for something less console-like… but maybe I should give mc another look – partly for nostalgia and partly because, who knows, it may grow on me again!

Thanks anticapitalista (previous thanks were to DaveW – I’m just getting used to forum message organization!).
zzzFM certainly looks promising, especially now that I’ve discovered how much configuration can be done from the context menu. The on-line help info looks really helpful (actually better than that of Krusader IMHO) so I’m going to give it a good read.
