Hi!
So I’m getting this message during startup:
[ 3.154582] udevd[239]: Error running install command for nvidia
I’ve been getting it since I installed nvidia display drivers (v.340 legacy). I’ve since purged the system of all things nvidia and I’m using the Nouveau drivers instead. I’m still getting this error message. Any idea why?

::Maybe you need to refreh the initrd.
Try
sudo update-initramfs -u -k allPhilosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::How did you install and deinstall the nvidia driver ?
In time your graphic card is not working properly. The inxi shows

I tried that command and got:
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp
cryptsetup: WARNING: The initramfs image may not contain cryptsetup binaries
nor crypto modules. If that’s on purpose, you may want to uninstall the
‘cryptsetup-initramfs’ package in order to disable the cryptsetup initramfs
integration and avoid this warning.
I: The initramfs will attempt to resume from /dev/sda7
I: (UUID=a2d4565a-d90e-43d4-a297-d2a63ee2c0ef)
I: Set the RESUME variable to override this.It did not resolve the issue. By the way, I get that “cryptsetup: WARNING” quite often. Do you know what that is about?
@caprea
I used the tool in the control center, I think its from MX. You’re right, no OpenGL, noticed that when trying to open a game. Installed the legacy nvidia drivers the debian way. Now its fixed. Still have the udev error mentioned in the title, but it doesnt seem to have any impact I can notice.

The answer is in your own terminal post

There may be a file in /etc/udev/rules.d for nvidia that is the reason for the error. But this error is not too clear, based on various search results (like this one).
