I have been unable to install spotify. I tried the antiX package installer with no success.
      I also tried using apt-get.

By the way I am using debian stable:

      # Note:If you want maximum stability, keep to the default Stable/buster repos.

Any ideas on a way to resolve these dependency issues?

Try via the package installer with the deb multimedia repo disabled (as it is by default).

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

I checked and there is an issue with installing via Package Installer.
Fixed version sent to repo manager and should appear in the repos soon.

If you are in a hurry, do the following.

          1. Remove the deb-multimedia repo

          2. In a terminal

          curl -sS https://download.spotify.com/debian/pubkey_0D811D58.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

          then

          echo "deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free">/etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list

          then

sudo apt update && sudo apt install spotify-client

The first thing you forgot to give us:
                inxi -Fxz

We have no idea if this is 32 or 64 bits. I tested anticapitalista’s solution on 64 bits and it worked. Let me boot 32 bits and let you know if it works also, but it will take some time.

Edit: confirmed. it doesn’t work on 32 bits antiX 19, not even if you set “testing” to the spotify repo.
Will need to experiment to find a solution.

Yes, I am running on an old 32-bit laptop.

I also tried the spotify testing repo. Both the spotify stable and spotify testing repos do not work on my 32-bit laptop.

Perhaps, spotify only supports 64-bit PCs?

Confirmed. 64 bits spotify-client (version 1:1.1.42.622.gbd112320-37 from stable repo) requires libcurl3-gnutls:amd64, which IS available from the debian repo

32 bits spotify-client (older version 1:1.0.72.117.g6bd7cc73-35 from stable repo) requires libcurl3:i386, which is only availabale from the antiX repo (with missing dependencies) and from debian stretch (old stable) repo.
I tried editing the sources and add stretch, but installing libcurl3:i386 break many antiX packages (screenlight, screenshot, wallpaper, etc.) so it is not an option.

Perhaps, spotify only supports 64-bit PCs?

Spotify moves with Ubuntu. Ubuntu abandons 32 bits, spotify abandons 32 bits. Maybe someone is building a more updated version for debian 32bits somewhere.

Update: There is a 32 bits flatpak version: https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.spotify.Client

Instructions to install flatpacks: https://flatpak.org/setup/Debian/ (skip second step, don’t install gnome-software-plugin-flatpak)

I haven’t tested it, so I cannot confirm if it works on antiX.
Edit: just tested spotify 32bit flatpaks and it seems to work (at least it launches).

Seems like 32 bit is no longer supported upstream (as a deb) so I’ll remove it (32 bit version) from package installer.

Many many thanks for tracking down the issue and proposing a workaround with a Flatpak.

Since I am running antiX on an old 32-bit laptop, I expect that from time to time some software will no longer be supported or stop working on 32-bit computers.

                          Thanks again.

I tried reinstalling but I get the same error.

I did a google search. Others had this problem in 2019 but they say the flatpak has been fixed.

                              Does anyone know a fix?

seems like the file residing on the flathub server is damaged//corrupt or currently has incorrect permissions set

I don’t know whether you should report the problem to the flathub site admin
or to the maintainer of the spotify flathub package

                                .
                                .

Thanks skidoo. I reported the problem on the Spotify Community Forums.
I do not know if that is the right place to report the error but I suspect someone there will tell me.
