      Hi. I tried to boot the live iso with the toram option, but it fails and prompts me to reboot or continue normally, so I continue and after installation is complete I add the parameter to grub, but it never works, nor does it return any errors, it’s as if it’s completely ignored. I tried this on several machines, all with the latest 19.2 release, same results all the time.

        How much RAM do you have?

        antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

            How big is the usb stick?

            I’m able to boot antiX-full (the largest in size) on a 4GB stick with toram option.
            I also tested in Virtualbox with RAM set to 2GB and it worked as well.

              It was 2 gigs, but what difference does it make? Now it’s installed in the hard drive (100 gigs in case you want to know that too)

                I may be wrong, but toram is only for live systems, not for installed.
                I have loaded DVDs and USBs to RAM (I believe what is really loaded is the linuxfs and rootfs, and in total they must occupy less space than your available RAM).

                  Why didn’t you say right at the beginning that you were trying to use toram on an installed system?

                    I said I tried with the live version, but it failed and it prompted to continue without the option or reboot. So I tried installing it and adding the parameter to grub. Should I use tmpfs in fstab instead for the installed system?

                    Anyway the live version fails to load in ram, tested on 3 machines, no VMs

                      I will be testing this out myself.
                      Which version of antiX 19.2? (full, base, core… 32bit or 64 bit, normal version or runit version, 4.9 kernel or 4.19 kernel?)

                      Just tested out toram on my acer laptop. antiX 19.2 runit x64 4.19 kernel and toram works.
                      Let us know the version you were using, the hardware, the error message (if possible). If your hardware is new, maybe try it with an antiX flavor with new 4.19 kernel.

                        19.2 full, both 32 bit and 64 bit on respective machines. I left all default values but toram option, I think the default kernel is 4.9. The error message says

                        Non-Fatal Error
                        Copy to RAM failed

                            c = continue
                            p = power off
                            r = reboot
                        Select c p or r then press <enter>

                            How much is it needed and why, doesn’t it just copy everything to ram? Does loading in ram need to write more than 900 mb on the stick?

                                If you don’t have a bigger USB drive you could try again using antiX Live USB maker.

                                My test just now:
                                USB: 1GB
                                OS: antiX 19.2.1 base 64 bits
                                Boot: EFI boot

                                antiX  boot  EFI  version

                                My experience is with the EFI boot (not the legacy/grub/BIOS boot)
                                I have to select the “antiX-19.2.1 x64-base Customize Boot (text menus)” because I don’t have the F1-F5 options for legacy boot
                                On the fourth/fifth option I select toram option

                                I am writing right now from this antiX 19 base on toram option

                                I am not sure if antiX full is the problem or if your computer/s run the legacy boot where you select the options using the Fn keys (and maybe the problem is there). I will try this on a different computer.
                                I have tested in a different computer (Legacy compatible) and Legacy F4 toram also works here (same USB stick).
                                Maybe a bad download? (check md5)?
                                I cannot test anymore. My only guess is that you used a USB maker that inhibits toram correct functionality, your USB is a bit faulty or something else.

                                Good luck!

                                  antiX-full and legacy boot F4 toram works fine here (as I posted earlier).

                                  I remember something like this happening before and the solution was to use a bigger usb device (not sure why).

                                  Also, OP could check that RAM on the hardware is really 2GB
