Hi! I tried to install this ditro antiX-19.2_386-full.iso into an old Asus EEEPC 701, 512 RAM, 3GB Hard Disk and, at the end of the installation process I got this message “unable to set user password”.
Please, your help.

::Hallo kike,
if you can get in to AntiX and open console you can set password there.
command is “passwd” You might be better off trying a base version, if that
will install then add what you really need. The 701 is a neat device but
hardware limited.Your system memory is very tight, the device can be upgraded though.
Crucial 2 GB CT25664AC53E DDR2 PC2-4200 533 MHz module works, for sure
others too but you would need to look in forums for recommendations.Using a 32GB SDHC if you can find one for a reasonable price or a
good USB stick of a decent size would be a big improvement. The
internal SSD is non replaceable.July 17, 2020 at 1:48 am #39018Forum Admin

Thanks!Hi! antiX-full won’t fit on a 3GB disk. Base version should (just). You need a bigger drive or run antiX frugally.

::If you want to go with a frugral install, like anticapitalista recommends, first read the FAQ’s, to get an handle on what it is (in case you are not familiar with it), then, this post can be useful: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/booting-antix-frugal-only-from-hdd-without-any-full-installed-os-with-extlinux/

::If you public your inxi -Fxz we could recommend packages for you to uninstall (firmware and xorg stuff) so you can free some space.
If you are able to follow a guide to install a separate boot loader and install antiX frugally, it would cupy about 800-900 MB in disk, freeing some diskspace.
Anyways, well done for figuring out a solution. If you ever need help, here we are.
