      Hi all, first time Antix user, hope this is the correct sub-forum for this question.

      Installed Antix 21 with antix-core and later added fluxbox, xorg, lightdm, terminator, geany, firefox-esr etc.
      Updated visudo with “caesium ALL= NOPASSWD: /sbin/shutdown, /sbin/reboot

      From the fluxbox menu, when I clicked on the menu item “reboot” and system will reboot.
      However from the fluxbox menu, when I clicked on the menu item “shutdown”, nothing happens.

      Fluxbox menu

      	[exec] (Reboot) {sudo /sbin/reboot}
      	[exec] (Shutdown) {sudo /sbin/shutdown -h now}

      Noticed that in terminal
      sudo /sbin/reboot
      – the system reboots without asking for password
      sudo /sbin/shutdown -h now
      – the system now says sudo: a password is required

      So this requesting for password is causing the menu item “shutdown” not working.
      Since visduo is already updated with NOPASSWD for both “reboot” and “shutdown”, just like “reboot”, “shutdown” should also be able to work without the extra step of password input, correct?

      Appreciate any help and advice.

        try
        sudo -- /sbin/shutdown -h now
        in both places (menu and sudoers file)

        yes.

        Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

          I just tried this, and it worked on my antiX core frugal:
          sudo poweroff

          That shut it down without password. 😉

            sudo -- /sbin/shutdown -h now

            Nope, still asking for password .

              sudo poweroff

              Strangely this works, thanks.

              But will be good if someone can help to explain why “shutdown” still require password 😀
