I am trying to update a laptop (antiX 17) which I have not used for 6 months. It was updating fine in March 2020.
I tried sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and got a lot of error messages and statements that it could not resolve ‘la.mxrepo.com
I tried to update Synaptic and got the message: Failed to fetch http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/stretch/dists/stretch/InRelease. Could not resolve ‘la.mxrepo.com” Also, failed to fetch and resolve the other repos which I selected in Repo Manager such as http://ftp.ca.debian.org and security.debian.org. The message also says: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I have tried other repos locations in Repo Manager and they do not work either.

          Hi greyowl,
Not just for you, maybe others will read in future.

wrong system time or date is also a common cause of update problems.

Happened yet again yesterday on a fresh install from my master Image,
Time was automagically set in the future.
