After an uneventful install of release 22 followed by a general install of preferred packages followed by a general update, and using icewm, I noticed that ungoogled chromium when selected, loads up, briefly shows a window saying it wasn’t shut down properly, then unloads itself.

I am now using Firefox ESR without difficulty. The install preserved the previous $home. I have been trying to convert to other browsers knowing that chromium has many unanswered questions, so I do not regard this problem as a disaster but would like to know if there is a suggested fix?

I was most gratified to note that the troublesome connman appeared and worked without prompting or tinkering, and once told my passphrase has done so ever since! Full marks!

Since you say you kept your home folder, it’s probably where the problem lies…

Before doing anything plase try to start U.G. from the command line (if you don’t know the correct command, run app-select, search for UngoogledChromium – the command to start it is in the “Exec” line). Paste here the results of the command- it may help solve it (Moddit is the U.G. go to guy here, not me)

Probably there’s some hidden U.G. config folder in your home. If so, I would advise deleting it (you’ll lose all your bookmarks, history, etc, doing that) and then try to restart U.G.
Also, as a work around – you can try to download and run U.G.’s appimage – and see if it works correctly…

          Hi roland, as PPC suggested
in the /home/yourusername/.config delete the chromium folder,
delete the chromium cache, also in home but cache folder.

If that does not give you a working setup and you have a sha256sum checked
download you may have a GlibC version mismatch and need to experiment with
ungoogled chromium versions. I only experienced that once but it is a possibility.

An appimage also depends on correct Glib version so is not totaly failsafe..

Another problem has prevented me from further investigating this fail. I am suspecting a faulty SSD boot drive. Thanks to all contributors.
