Version 107.0.5304.122-1 of UngoogledChromium is available at
      https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/

I use the portable version, it starts faster than the appimage which
is also available, both are 3rd party builds, been no trouble with that
      to date.
Please do use the provided sha256sum to check for download corruption.
Do follow the readme to setup sandbox correctly. Enjoy.
      Rename “chrome_sandbox” to “chrome-sandbox”
      2. Set the file mode to 4755
Assuming you name the folder in opt as I did
      chmod 4755 /opt/ungoogled-chromium/chrome-sandbox
as far as I am aware sudo should not be used for the change to
      reduce chance of privelige escalation.

Experts please correct me if I am in error.

      3. Set the group to root
      sudo chown :root /opt/ungoogled-chromium/chrome-sandbox

I recommend to install ublock origin from
      https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases

Just unpack, check developer options in extensions window,
go to the unpacked extension and install.
      Turn off developer options.

When you make your starter you may wish to add the apulse option.
No test done as I use separate applications for video and an android
      app for video calls.

Enjoy with far less data going to your constant watcher in US of a..

With latest UngoogledChromium Noticeably less CPU Load in the updated version.
That may not apply to all machines, the effect could be due better GPU utilisation.

As had been promised by UngoogleChromium team the user has growing access to internal settings.
To access pls enter in adress bar, press enter.

        chrome://flags/
The equivalent of about:config in Firefox and Plemoon.

Well worth exploring, many of the flags are self explaining many are still a mystery to me so no
        attempt at recommending any settings.

I use a security hardened version which comes as standard…

            https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Vanadium

            https://grapheneos.org/usage#web-browsing

… have been using it for some years now 🙂

Has anyone done a security audit on your browser version…???

Hope links are of some use?

They make a few notes on security here.. but nothing about an independent security audit or a professional endorsement or any hardware manufacturer.

                  Hi, Moddit!

Thanks for the info. I just tested the latest U.C. build on my 64bits single core netbook and unfortunatly it is still too taxing, ever when using it to access the forum. Min browser is still the chromium based browser that runs better on such low powered device (and Seamonkey runs much smoother than Firefox-esr- the latested version runs slowly here).

On my more powerfull desktop (temporaly out of commision 🙁 )- U.G. does fly, and browsing with it is extremely smooth (for some reason I used Brave on it, and also LibreWolf), so I can’t wait to test it on it…

Graphic acceleration is still not running (or not running as intended) in any browser I test – it’s always best to use mpv to stream Youtube videos, for example, but running http://www.tonvid.com/ on any browser (like U.G., Min or Seamonkey) does provide a more smooth video playback than using YT directly. Any flag you can suggest?

Edit: as always @Moddit, please, don’t feed the trolls. They tend to bite back.

                  P.

Hey PPC – thanks for confirming amateur status of U.C. as it seems troublesome too. Oh Dear…

I just tested the lates U.C. build on my 64bits single core netbook and unfortunatly it is still too taxing

It beggars the question – Why bother with it at all…?

I don’t waste my time with such as I have Tails+Tor on a usb drive. Never had any trouble and it leaves no trace on the host computer that you were ever there – how cool is that 🙂 Ultra secure too as used by security experts and recommended by the Guardian, NYT etc.

Ooooooooops! Yet another idea from Andy that SUCKS 🙂 🙂 🙂
