The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgtk2.0-dev : Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.24.32-3) but 2.24.33-2 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.WTF!! I don’t SEE held broken packages anywhere!!
This is a recurring problem! Always “a dollar short or a day late” with this Debian-based stuff. Is there anyway to keep current? NOT “bleeding edge” but “latest stable” e.g. ? Thx …BTW, do I need to upgrade from “Manolis Glezos” to fix this? Can it it done w/o trashing my system?

Repos: Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list
1: deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ buster non-free contrib mainThe whole thing looks a bit messed up.The /etc/apt/sources.list should be an empty list, normally.
In: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list should be
deb http://debian.otenet.gr/debian/ buster main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ buster/updates main contrib non-freein: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian-stable-updates.list should be
deb http://mirror.eu.oneandone.net/debian/ buster-updates main contrib non-freeThe most important, you do not have any antiX-list.In /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list should be
deb http://ftp.cc.uoc.gr/mirrors/linux/mx/antix/buster/ buster main nonfree nosystemdNovember 21, 2021 at 4:52 am #71332Member

::Is there anyway to keep current? NOT “bleeding edge” but “latest stable” e.g. ?
Yes, there is!
First- don’t ever mess with your Repos. As you noticed, you’ll end up, sooner or later, breaking your system!
Second- If you want to use the “latest” software available in Debian, update to the latest version of your OS- back up everything and install antiX 21- there are many apps that do not offer their latest versions under Debian 10 (antiX 19), only under Debian 11 (antiX 21)
Third- Do you want to use the latest version of your apps and not risk breaking your system? There are some very nice options: use Flatpaks, or Appimage versions of those apps, if they are available. Also, if the app is available under an executable binary format (ex: firefox, telegram), download and use those- but you may have to create/adapt their .desktop files to run them from the menu or desktop/toolbar icons…P.

::Got it! As long as I’m on a Debian-based system, I’ll never touch the repos again!
install antiX 21
I’ll look for the installation Howto to get this done correctly. Thx ..
use Flatpaks, or Appimage versions ….. executable binary format
Never heard of Flatpaks or Appimage, but sounds like a plan! Using pre-compiled binaries has always been an obvious option for me.
Thx again for your input!!

::So after, after following all the great advice above, here’s what I still have to deal with. I haven’t upgraded to antiX 21 yet~

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

The following information may help to resolve the situation:The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgtk2.0-dev : Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.24.32-4.0antix1) but 2.24.33-2 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. How can that be!? What a PITA!

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
