If I burn the core iso to a 64gb USB3, how can I:
1. Use persistence for root and home (i was selecting static root and home)
2. from the core command line increase size of persistence so it doesn’t run out of space (i think that might be what is going wrong)
3. from the core command line create and use swap space on the SSD drive
4. update and then upgrade the core sid
4a. how do I save persistence and reboot to test it?
5. from the core command line remaster the usb
Then I will reboot.Would it be wiser to get a simple Xorg working next, then add the rest of the base packages?

Start fresh and select a big static persistence file size – 20 GB perhaps (to be safe). The idea is to be big enough to install everything, yet have room enough to remaster. I think remastering should only need a couple GB.
If you install in stages & remaster after each step, then after reboot, delete the linuxfs.old & root.old files from /live/boot-dev/antiX as root, to free up the space. (Mc is good for that.)Use p_static_root as boot parameter. (Then /home is rolled in under the same root (/) persistence file.)
If you have a swap file on the SSD of the computer, antiX live will see it & use it without doing anything. (If you don’t already have one & need to make one, I’d do it from base/full with gparted.)
The persistence is saved & used automatically (read & merged automatically) using this type of persistence, between reboots.
When it all works & you’re ready to remaster, run:
sudo live-remaster -c
(You probably would select general remaster (g), but I’m not certain how that pans out, with the /etc/skel stuff, in this instance…)- This reply was modified 4 months, 4 weeks ago by christophe.

Would it be wiser to get a simple Xorg working next, then add the rest of the base packages?
This is about what I was just about to do. I was planning to set up Xorg and IceWM on the ISO base as published by anticapitalista, not yet running any upgrade of packages across the board. Just using anticapitalista’s Core ISO and installing Xorg + IceWM. This way I would try to establish if the Core ISO as published by anticapitalista is working with Xorg and boots to IceWM, in other words it is good.
Unfortunately just when I was trying to install Xorg and other files as outlined by @Christophe earlier, it looks like Debian Unstable InRelease is not valid for another 4 hours, so I need to wait with this…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

christophe, how would I set the size of the persistence?
I found it:
sudo persist-makefsI gave it 8gb for root and 1gb for home.
I can’t run update, the mx and debian sid servers are offline it looks

When you boot live with persistence, and it’s your first boot (i.e., no persistence file yet), then the system stops mid-way to ask you to specify the size. It will be based on the boot-device’s size.
It gives a suggested size, but you can designate a custom size. (It walks you through it.)edit – I see you got it done (the other way). 🙂

My attempt failed to prove (check) that the SID ISO provided by anticapitalista is good.
The outcome is the same. It does not 100% prove that the SIS ISO is bad either (as Xorg and a few other packaged still come from the Debian Unstable) but I think it greatly increases such probability.

Not sure why? Can’t make any progress at all.
I tried again a few times yesterday, and again last night. Is this affecting everyone (ie they are working on the code, so wait till its ready), or is it just something I have set wrong?

with sid everything is ok here.
Since a few of us are running into problem creating a SID ‘Base or about’, at least a properly working SID with IceWM, when starting from SID Core ISO, I would like to look into some alternate way to produce one…
