Configuration file ‘/etc/slim.conf’
==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer’s version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : start a shell to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** slim.conf (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ?Whats the recommended course of action in situations like these?
“Updated” might be construed as “better.”
I dont recall having modified slim.conf.

::In the event that “I [didn’t] recall having modified slim.con”, I would certainly choose to “show the differences between the versions”.
If you are unsure of the significance of the changes shown in the diff, post the diff output and others can offer guidance.January 23, 2022 at 8:35 am #75879Member

::Hi, when unsure, I show the difference. Perhaps, the previous one was packed in antiX/MX, or simply the new version is updated. In the end, I usually decide to update the configuration file (after having viewed the differences) in most of the cases.

::Well, too late for that. The only thing that happened was that upon reboot I was presented with a login screen, havent seen that in ages. Checked the control centre and autologin in Login Manager was disabled. Reenabled, havent noticed anything else. On my other system I went with the default “no” on updating the config. Can’t say I’ve noticed any adverse effects. But duly noted, will show diff from now on. On the other hand, if unfamiliar with the config file in question, dont know what good it will do.

::Not necessarily too late – look for a file called “slim.conf.dpkg-dist”: The pkg mgr. usually saves the one IT wanted to install with that extension, and then diff.
