      Hello everyone!

I am getting an error message whenever I try to update. I tells me that there are 3 packages not fully installed or removed. I am attaching a screenshot of what I am getting. It happens both when I use Antix Updater and when I run sudo apt upgrade and sudo apt autoremove. Can you help resolve this? Thanks so much!

        Hi.

        If
        sudo apt -f install
doesn’t work (it will try to fix broken packages), try reinstalling desktop-session-antix
        sudo apt install --reinstall desktop-session-antix

Just to confirm, this is antiX 19, correct?

Thanks for helping me; I really appreciate. It didn’t help; I got the same result. I am attaching the screenshot.

Ok. I will have to see what went wrong with the latest desktop-session-antix update.
For now, you can remove a file (so that the error doesn’t pop up and you can continue to use the system and update normally). Once the package is fixed, a new update will create that file automatically.
              sudo rm /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99-update-slim

Would you mind also giving the terminal output for
              apt policy desktop-session-antix
so I can check which is the problematic version?

              Thanks.

Thanks, Xecure! I am attaching the technical information you requested. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I decided to update using sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade yesterday. When I did, it gave me a message about the testing repositories and suggested that I switch to Bookworm as the new testing repository. I clicked yes.

Before I clicked yes, there hadn’t been any updates for several weeks. After I changed over, there were a lot of updates. Could this be causing the problem? Sorry I didn’t mention it before…. Since I use testing repositories anyway, and bullseye is/has become the stable repository, I figured I was expected to do it.

I really appreciate your patience with me.

If you have removed /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99-update-slim, try installing an app

                  sudo apt install xfe

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Just some additional information. I executed “sudo rm /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99-update-slim” and then sudo apt upgrade and got a different error message. I am attaching both screens.

For the latest erors, if you are running antiX installed on real hardware and not on virtualbox (as guest), you can remove the virtalbox packages (they take up space and resources and only work when running antiX inside virtualbox).
                      sudo apt purge virtualbox-guest-*

                                Hi.

Yes, you can change it to solved. As of now, in the current testing-repos system, there is no longer a need for the 99-update-slim file (it was replaced by another different file). This file is only useful for antiX 19 with buster repos.

I think that virtualbox-guest-dkms now has problems supporting i386 processors, so maybe that is the reason for the virtualbox-guest-* issue.
Anyway, it only usefull when running antiX inside virtualbox as a guest.

Thanks for following the proposed commands and providing valuable feedback.
