Hi, it’s me again.
I try to connect to Internet via USB tethering.
Ifconfig shows me usb0 with IP address 192.168.42.104
IP Route shows default via 192.168.42.129 dev usb0
Nameserver in resolv.conf is 192.168.42.129 (the Smartphone)All generated by DHCP.
But I can’t connect to Internet.
I tried Differenz DNS Server But still nö connection.
Is there something missing?Thanks

::I have searched the forums a bit to see if I could help (no previous experience with tethering).
On antiX 19 it should be easy with connman, but on antiX 17 I think you could do it with ceni. This old in the antiX old forums: https://antixlinux.com/forum-archive/how-to-set-up-mobile-network-connection-using-usb–t4801.html#p32851
All I did was to plug in the cable, set the phone to tether… and usb0 popped up in ceni, which is what I use for network connections.
Hopefully someone with real experience can come and help.

::If you can ping your device
ping 192.168.42.129But cannot ping to any website
ping google.comand you have your phone correctly set, then it is probably a DNS problem. Do you manually have to set the DNS? It should work automatically, at least for most devices.
I may be asking too much, but maybe you could make tests on a live system, first without doing anything but connecting the phone through USB and using ceni, and then test stuff out in the live system. If you mess up you know you can just reboot, so the risk should be small.
Hopefully some expert can come an help.

::Thanks again Xecure,
I’m very gratefull for your help.
Yes I can ping 192.168.42.129 But no http://www.xyz.de site.
I changed DNS Server in /etc/resolv.conf to a valid german DNS Server with no success.May 12, 2020 at 2:17 pm #35867MemberFantomas
::I just double checked all settings and reset the smart phone’s APN to factory default. Now it works!
Using ceni to configure the usb0 device works as expected.Antix is great!
Thank you for your help
best regards
