      Good evening,
I’m tinkering with plugging in my normal monitor into the VGA port of the Dell. Didn’t went so well yesterday, for some reason it’s better today.
Yesterday I had the taskbar in the middle of the big monitor, today not.

Though still windows titlebars disapear off screen on the monitor and snap to something “up there”. Snapping and positions on the laptop monitor work flawless.
In addition, this browser window left a gap (about the height of the taskbar) on the bottom.

I hope the screenshot explains better what I mean.
Is there any way to make adding a second monitor more “plug and play”? Right now I have to click serveral menus in RandR and hope that it things happen as I expect.

      Cheers
      Julian

I wonder if you did a Save-as of your new settings to ~/.screenlayout/default.sh in arandr so they don’t revert to original after you reboot?

Sorry, the third pic was supposed to be first, then the 2nd pic. The first time you boot, if its a multi screen system, I think it would ask you to do this, but you only had one screen then, so it never asked.

Nope, never clicked any save as or such.
just apply was needed to get an image on the second screen.
As I said, yesterday it had the task bar in it, today taskbar stayed on laptop screen.

Once it is setup correctly, you should save it. Wingrid doesn’t support multimonitor setups, I don’t think. You could find that here somewhere by using the Forum >> Search.

You should use WinArrange or icesh to handle your multi monitor setup. You could use Forum >> Search or look at the IceWM site to find more info on those.
