I ve just installed antixlinux 21 on a vaio S11, its touchpad (“ELAN0903:00 04F3:3051 Touchpad”) has 2 physical dedicated buttons for left and right click.

Unfortunately left button = right click and right button = middle click … not really usable to select text for example …

I kind of solved it for the physical dedicated buttons with :

      xinput set-button-map “ELAN0903:00 04F3:3051 Touchpad” 2 3 1

but now when I tap on the touchpad with 1 finger this is equivalent to a middle button click (it would paste selected text) … I need to remember it and use the physical dedicated button or 3 fingers … kind of annoying as I also like to tap on the touchpad … any help maybe ??

      Thanks !

      PS :
I also tried key-mapper ( https://github.com/sezanzeb/key-mapper ) … I think it worked but it was using like 5% of CPU and I could feel my Vaio S11 running warmer …

I wonder if the system hasn’t correctly recognized your touchpad? I’m not sure where that is, but I’d suggest investigating that.

If that doesn’t help, take a look at synclient and synaptics. I’ve never had the kinds of problems you are experiencing, but I do use them to control my touchpads…

I installed antix base with kernel 4.19 … maybe it would have worked better with a newer kernel ??

btw I am getting used to using the single finger tap as a “middle button” (just forgetting from time to time) … quite convenient to “paste” some text as there is no dedicated physical middle button on this touchpad (and on most Windows laptops I guess … I think you usually need to buy a mouse for that …)
