Installed antiX under VirtualBox 6.1.0 running on Windows 10.
Painless but VBoxGuestAdditions.iso – mounted as IDE in the VM configuration – does not appear.Linux newbie, but have been able to install Guest Additions on other distros.

::antiX iso (the “full” edition at least ~~ idunno for base, core) ships with the GuestAdditions preinstalled.
You can use the following command to quickly check:
cat /usr/share/antiX/installed-packages.txt | grep virtualboxJanuary 2, 2020 at 12:57 pm #31389Member

Installed the full version as suggested.
Please see the output of the command.
I still can’t see the shared folder (sf_lin-win) I defined on VirtualBox configuration – looked everywhere…root@antix:/home/paulo# cat /usr/share/antiX/installed-packages.txt | grep virtualbox virtualbox-guest-dkms 6.0.12-dfsg-1~mx19+1 all x86 virtualization solution - guest addition module source for dkms virtualbox-guest-utils 6.0.12-dfsg-1~mx19+1 amd64 x86 virtualization solution - non-X11 guest utilities virtualbox-guest-x11 6.0.12-dfsg-1~mx19+1 amd64 x86 virtualization solution - X11 guest utilities root@antix:/home/paulo#- This reply was modified 3 years, 4 months ago by pstrg.

::“I still can’t see the shared folder”
windows10 is entirely alien to me.
From top results of a websearch “virtualbox windows 10 host shared folder” :Share folder on VirtualBox, between host Windows 10 and guest Ubuntu 17.04

::Thank you for the links.
I’m aware of the procedures.
In fact, already installed a number of other Debian-based distros under VirtualBox – I’m comparing them.The problem is that, different of other distros, I can’t even see the shared folder when I run antiX.
It doesn’t seem to be a Windows problem.January 3, 2020 at 1:30 pm #31416Anonymous
::possibly you typically setup automounting (and did so for the other VMs)
but forgot to do that when configuring the VM for antiX ?
you are “already aware of the procedures” but reviewing this might jog a memory of some missed detail

consider: Does the host have this same version? What version are the other successful guests using?January 3, 2020 at 2:01 pm #31417Member

::Thank you for your help.
No, I didn’t forget to tick auto-mount…
In fact, despite my Linux newbieness, I have already successfully installed 7 other Debian-based distros with VBoxGuest additions.
Why do I insist with antiX? – 1) to learn; 2) its nickname “Marielle Franco” compels me not to abandon fight.Just to check everything again, fresh installed antiX-Base and, yet again, the Guest Additions virtual disk doesn’t show up.

::in this topic we have been juggling apples and oranges
“cannot see the shared folder”
and
“the Guest Additions virtual disk doesn’t show up”You do not want / need the guestadditionsblablah.iso to show up.
As confirmed in your post #3, its content is, already, preinstalled.“I can’t even see the shared folder when I run antiX”
Let’s wait for others to answer.

::Thanks again, @skidoo.
antiX Full
Sure, in the full version Guest Additions are preinstalled.
However, despite of that, the shared folder I defined (as auto-mount) on VirtualBox does not show up.antiX Base
My latest post referred to a fresh install of antiX base.
In this version, Guest Additions aren’t preinstalled and can’t be installed because the install disk (specified on VirtualBox) does not show up so I can’t run the install file it contains.
This seems to be a peculiarity of antiX – I haven’t had the same difficulty with other Debian based distros and this is intriguing.January 4, 2020 at 6:33 am #31429Forum Admin

::Is the shared folder a windows folder?
(I also have zero experience using windows host for running antiX in VBox)
I do have antiX running as host and antiX in VBox with a shared folder.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Yes, a Windows folder.
Anyway, shouldn’t VirtualBox take care of things related to host?January 4, 2020 at 7:25 am #31432Forum Admin

::Not sure.
I know that antiX dos not mount as user any NTFS partitions (you have to this as root) – if that helps.
I can’t help any more as I don’t have windows.Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
