Hi I’m trying Antix on the usb and the audio is very low even if the master is at 100%
I remember that i had to download a separate driver (it was like IDT High Definition Audio) on Windows to enhance the audio, because the native Intel driver of this computer is terrible i guess. Is there a workaround for Antix too?March 8, 2022 at 1:20 pm #78763MemberModdIt
::Hi gsamsa,
Please check pre amp volume in the alsamixer, common problem too low.
No detail on your system setup but if you gave the Volume slider in the task bar a right
click will let you open the mixer. you may also enter alsamixer in the terrminal then enter
Move right with arrow keys to reach preamp slider. On most systems about 30 to 32 is ok, go
too high you will experience distortion.March 8, 2022 at 1:27 pm #78764Membergsamsa00
::Thank you! I wasn’t aware i could change other options too in the mixer. I’ve been working on different combinations and it seems to go well now 😀

There are many posts regarding sound problems; some of them mentioned that a specific combination of values (40%) was the best combination.I’ve used the PreAmp a couple of times, and it can help IF the overall volume is too low, even when the Master volume and the volume of the specific devices are also turned up, BUT I find, at least on my systems, if I turn the PreAmp setting any higher than 11% in my case, it creates too much distortion to be useful. The specific percentage may vary, depending on the hardware you are using, but start with 0% on the PreAmp and only turn it on or up if the sound is too soft, but be careful and increment the percentage by a few percentage points at a time until the desired effect is achieved; too much and it’ll overload the sound driver (and possibly create unpleasant, even harmful side effects).
I hope this helps!
