I am a Linux newbie and have been trying to establish a VPN connection to my home for days. Under Windows this is easily adjustable, under LInux this seems to be a science. I just can not find a way to set this via “Network”. About help I would be very happy … Cisco compatible VPN client (vpnc) …

::I don’t use VPN’s, but have you tried searching on-line “fritzbox vpn linux”?- I found this: https://waal70blog.wordpress.com/2019/01/14/connect-vpn-to-fritzbox-with-vpnc-from-debian-linux/, https://en.avm.de/service/vpn/tips-tricks/setting-up-a-vpn-connection-to-fritzbox-in-linux/ and this: https://blog.mithis.net/archives/ubuntu/1833-connecting-to-a-fritzbox-under-linux-using-vpnc
You’ll have to say what steps you tried to follow to configure your vpn, so folks here can try to help… Like I said before here in the forum- you don’t just call your doctor and say you are not felling well and expect the doctor to magically know what’s wrong with you, right? You say- “Doctor, I don’t fell well, my throat hurts a lot, etc”…
IMPORTANT TIP FOR NEWBIES: don’t just run random terminal commands that you don’t know do, you may brick your system!
P.
Edit, from what I gather from the first link I posted you have to first install “vpnc”. TRy doing this: antiX Menu > Terminal > run this command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install vpncThis will check if there are updates in the repository and then try to install vpnc
Step 2: Try following steps 2 – 4 from https://waal70blog.wordpress.com/2019/01/14/connect-vpn-to-fritzbox-with-vpnc-from-debian-linux/.
Please note that, when step 3 says “create a .conf file under /etc/vpnc/”, one way you can do it in antix is: in the terminal run this:
sudo geanyCreate the needed file that this step recommends and save it under the a file called “fb.conf” (don’t type the quotation marks), in the folder /etc/vpnc
After your are done configuring your vnc:
To establish a connection, using the terminal run this command:
sudo vpnc-connect fbTo disconenct, using the terminal run this command:
sudo vpnc-disconnect- This reply was modified 1 year, 1 month ago by PPC.
