It works! That was the solution. Super thank you! I needed days and several complete new installations.

        1. sudo rfkill unblock -all (invalid command => I used rfkill then rfkill unblock 0)
        2. sudo apt purge firmware-b43-installer
        3. sudo apt update
        4. sudo apt install --reinstall firmware-b43-installer
        5. sudo modprobe -r b43
        6. sudo modprobe b43

The problem is solved and the request can be closed.

Not my call, as I am just a user, but just a question to antiX owner and management team:
Considering that the procedure madibi developed resolved many such otherwise difficult issues, would this not make sense for this procedure to become a sticky solution visible upfront in this forum? It would save lots of time for users and antiX support team after all…

I already wrote the same some posts ago, unfortunately it was in english and not in german. May be thats the reason you missed it 🙂

Broadcom is/was a common provider of inexpensive wireless interfaces.

Many years ago Dell frequently used them, particularly in their D6** series. When using MS Windows they worked fine because the non free drivers were automatically included.
Broadcom did make free binary for wireless and did not make any source code available. Purists did not like it.

I’ve not seen the device in several years.

                Good going madibi!

I second olsztyn’s suggestion to make this a routine post, so it becomes the first thing to consider and try to fix.

I have seen several of these threads and have had a tough time coming to grips with the notion that the B43 driver and firmware is subject to abnormal installs which just show themselves by not being able to connect.

I have looked at other sites and a few things are suggested that indicate a bad install.

One is the install of b43-bridge-pci driver as in this instance.

Curious why a reinstall “a la madibi” works though, when the original didn’t.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
