      Hi all

When Antix 19 goes to sleep, I can see that the machine enters the sleep state, and my mouse keyboard are still powered.
But neither of them can wake the system up. I can press NumLock and see the light go on and off. Pressing any keyboard or mouse keys does not wake the machine up.
It does wake up from pressing the power button.
Are there any settings that have to be enabled, to allow the PS/2 keyboard or USB mouse to wake the system up?

      Thanks!

        Hi,

my antiX (antiX-19.b2_x64-full, testing repositories) responds better to keyboard than mouse.
It wakes up from suspended state without problems.

Please provide more information about your installation and hard-ware ‘inxi -Fxz’ so that the (more experienced) users/forum-members may help.

The machine has been taken apart, for the time being, so I can just tell that it is an AMD Phenom II X4 CPU on a Gigabyte 890XA-UD3 motherboard. The graphics card is an AMD 6450.

This may be related to TLP power management. I cannot remember where the option is, but you should be able to enable “wakeup” events from USB devices. It may be something in the BIOS or in TLP.

The easiest way I can come up with right now would be to experiment with powertop- Install powertop, run it with
            sudo powertop
use the Tab key to reach the “Wakeup” tab and try enabling “wake” for USB /or PS/2 if available) devices. Enable and try suspending and waking up the machine with the specific device. If it works, you may have to edit the TLP variable to make it permanent, but I am not sure which option it is.

Pardon my ignorance: what is TLP?

Why can I not find powertop in the package installer?

TLP is an advanced power management tool for Linux. It has become something like a “standard” for many linux based distros, and helps a lot in making laptops be a bit more efficient on battery life.

It is usually installed by default (at least on antiX full, I think).

powertop can be installed from the terminal or synaptic
sudo apt update && sudo apt install powertop

In powertop, I can tab through Overview, Idle Stats, Frequency Stats, Device Stats, and Tunables
How should I enter Wakeup tab?

Ah, there are errors in console, every time I start powertop (under su):

modprobe cpufreq_stats failedLoaded 0 prior measurements
                    Cannot load from file /va/cache/powertop/saved_parameters.powertop

I don’t know if it is hardware dependent, but this is what I see on my system:
                      powertop
This one does have the “Wakeup” tab.

Those messages you see are warnings or informative messages, but nothing much. I also get some of them on my laptop:

modprobe cpufreq_stats failedLoaded 190 prior measurements
                      RAPL device for cpu 0

                      RAPL device for cpu 0

                      Devfreq not enabled

This probably means that the kernel no longer supports AMD 890 chipset 🙁
