      Maybe you could reconsider adding

      .site-header {
  background-position: center center;
}

      in the .css of your forum, instead of

      .site-header {
  position: relative;
}

      That would result in better centered image.

          But …

          I like that image and my aim was the exact opposite — not (to get a reason) to hide it.

          (My proposal works at least from iPhone 5 to 2560×1440 screens.)
