So as you can see, antiX works well, with our own kernels, with Liquorix kernels, with V4, V5, and V6 kernels, depending on the particular system you are using. You can also use Debian kernels, Xanmod kernels, or Linux kernels @ https://kernel.org/ – all work well!

Have a IBM T530 coming in to replace it. Needs power brick but I have one left when I dropped the T430 and broke the screen along with everything else. I am gonna pull the Windows drive out and insert the one left in the broken T430.
From what I can tell. T430 power plug and adapter fits T530. While looking for replacement. I saw a Lenovo touchscreen Chromebook , intel not arm, for 19 bucks and shipping in usa was like 7 dollars. It was Tempting.

Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute off it.
                  Motorcycle racing is rocket science.

@rokytnji I cannot speak specifically about or for the ” Lenovo touchscreen Chromebook”, but I can tell you that several years ago the school where my wife worked at (before our retirement) came across a super deal on MANY Lenovo Chromebook Model N22 units. They were LOW spec, they were also of plastic composition, but I will say they were both very solid; the plastic, though relatively light, was firm and not flimsy, the units, though not very powerful, were indeed quite functional.

Where we ultimately found them lacking was when we’d get on family forum conversations with over a dozen participants. Those old devices simply were not able to keep up with the processing needed to support all of the activity. They were, however, fine for using a network for Email and similar things.

I eventually replaced mine with an Acer Chromebook 715. That was a mid to high end unit at the time it became available; I got between a $150-$200 discount by getting mine in a pre Black Friday sale; I think it was back in 2019. That unit is an Intel Core i3, 8th generation, yet running Chrome on it, the thing continues to perform as good or better than anything else I’ve owned.

Due to that positive experience and the general nature of Acer packaging pretty decent processor and peripheral technology in otherwise moderately priced packaging, I got an Acer Aspire 5 Model A515; it was the first non-Chromebook I’d had with SSD; this one was NVMe SSD, and it was, and probably still is, the FASTEST system I’ve owned; with an Intel Core i5 11th generation unit and the NVMe SSD, it was VERY responsive; unfortunately their firmware is among the most difficult to work with; after a while of fumbling around, I did a firmware update and messed up the system firmware interface and then I could not access the configuration any more so I got rid of it and obtained the HP-14 instead; the particular HP I got uses an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics.

This runs well and HP has excellent hardware firmware; I would recommend HP, Dell, or Lenovo as three fairly easy devices to work with when it comes to their usual firmware configurations. Where I really like Acer is with their Chromebook models; when you’re NOT messing with the firmware or configuration, price – performance is excellent; where they are questionable is when you are attempting to configure their standard support; I forget what their default setup was, but I needed AHCI in order to set up Linux; when the system firmware went back to password protection; I had misplaced the information and had to give up; I’ve never had any difficulties configuring Dell, HP, or Lenovo systems. I don’t have any experience with ASUS, which has a decent reputation, or Sansung, a popular name in electronics; I stand by the three models I mentioned for those who are able to find an affordable version of one of them.
