I am visiting the forum using the @RJP nobodyOS x32 respin.

I am checking out the Otto Browser. I have not used this browser. I will post using this browser.

@calciumsodium I’m back with one of my own today. I’ve done a lot of behind the scenes customization of this one, the primary antiX 23.1 Full Runit distribution. I’ve purged locales, tools and applications that I never personally use, and I have added a few of the extras that I do use; many of my “tools” are Bash based; a few are Yad scripts called from Bash, with a few Perl and Python scripts mixed in, so my system is a blend. For some tools, it was just a way for me to learn or relearn a bit about that “language”, enough to retain a few examples. But it’s ALL for a purpose – no matter what I’ve built, copied, or modified from something else, whatever it does is something that I fairly consistently use, no matter which distribution I’m running, so portability is not just important, it’s essential to me. I’ve been able to further improve a few things, so there is very little to change, EXCEPT for alias commands that are used in my login script; those I have to alter 1 to 4 alias commands – very minor changes.

          Hi Mr. Brian,

I am back using my multi-init Trixie respin with s6-66 init.

I have started to notice that some of my older hardware are not doing so great with the higher kernels 6.7 or greater.

That is why I am using more kernels 6.6 or lower. I have not used kernels greater than 6.7.

@calciumsodium thank you for sharing that observation. Since you have mentioned this I’ll have to bring out my two oldest devices and see if I experience a similar issue; until recently that has NOT been the case for me; however two of my OLDER devices that were still 32-bit I got rid of around six years ago; that was back when my Dell Inspiron 5558 was still reasonably new. I retrofitted my 5558 with an SSD instead of an HDD; my original unit had a whopping 8 TB HDD, but the performance really degraded so I got rid of it, going with a smaller, but still more than ample SSD; don’t recall the exact capacity, but I can easily install 4-5 distributions, each with ample space, so it really doesn’t matter what the capacity is because I tend to store huge resources either in removable storage or high capacity cloud based storage – or both, if I want to ensure multiple backups; if I’m unconcerned about the content, then I am less concerned about redundancy, error recovery, and so forth.

I’ve been using my MEMOREX Flash Drive instance of my primary system all day today, but I may update my other SSD partitions before I call it a day today.

I’m here now with my “init-diversity” configuration thanks to the work of @ProwlerGr.
I’ll be back in a little while with the alternatives shared by @calciumsodium and @techore!

Thank you all – plus the development team who have made ALL of this possible!

Ah, you have your antiX-23.1-runit_x64-full instance, thanks to the MrChromebox-4.18.1 interface you were able to install. Nice job with it!

I’m booting from the Flash Drive image of a recent effort by @calciumsodium, which I have also installed on my HP-14 laptop.

I’m still here with the Flash Drive described above; been using it with updates, but I have not remastered the updates into the Flash Drive; I do the updates on the installed version and only “temporarily” update the Flash Drive; unless it is remastered or built into a new ISO snapshot, any changes are not maintained.
