      Waiting on my ISP tech to show up with my new improved speedy router. 10MB download speed is what I live on presently.
      Supposed to improve to 100MB download speed for extra dollars. Wife is paying for it.
      Wife got buffaloed on the phone so I am keeping quiet and being a good guard dog.

        Your weather is similar to ours, but it looks like it’s about ten degrees or so warmer in your area:

        curl wttr.in/Greenville,SC

        Weather report: Greenville,SC

          So weird… is it the Universe telling me to continue using THIS distro? I was JUST thinking about how I can put a wX app of sorts on the desktop, and had only opened this thread up to add my “What I’m Here With Today”, [which is: antiX-22_386-full Grup Yorum 18 October 2022 base: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) btw]

          and what do I see but a way to pull the conditions up in a terminal. neat. (tho, that’s not what it is RN… more like 50F)
          $ curl wttr.in/Houston,TX

          (edit: I also like how the… browser? breaks my name here… just one too many characters to fit in that 1st line… k? lol)

            It’s gray and rainy here in Greenville, SC. The good thing about the rain is that this really is a GREEN area; though we’re mostly through the Fall season, only a month until Winter and the shortest day of sunlight, we have MANY nice days with plenty of sunshine too.

            curl wttr.in/Greenville,SC
            Weather report: Greenville,SC

            .-. Rain, mist
            ( ). 51 °F

            By the way, curl is easily available; I happen to be updating and using PCLinuxOS, a full-featured Linux distribution, and therefore it is reasonable that this distribution also provides curl, a very handy tool.

            Here’s an abstract from the man page:

            DESCRIPTION
                   curl is a tool for transferring data from or to a server. It supports
                   these protocols: DICT, FILE, FTP, FTPS, GOPHER, GOPHERS, HTTP, HTTPS,
                   IMAP, IMAPS, LDAP, LDAPS, MQTT, POP3, POP3S, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, SCP,
                   SFTP, SMB, SMBS, SMTP, SMTPS, TELNET, TFTP, WS and WSS. The command is
                   designed to work without user interaction.

                   curl offers a busload of useful tricks like proxy support, user authen‐
                   tication, FTP upload, HTTP post, SSL connections, cookies, file trans‐
                   fer resume and more. As you will see below, the number of features will
                   make your head spin.

              I was just reading up on it, and the wtter info, as well. Once I get my password issue resolved, I’m going to try to add a widget to my Conky.

              Loving not having to worry about this thing crashing if I walk away for a few minutes… or having to save things after editing for the same. Windows is looking worse and worse the more I learn about Linux. Don’t know why I have only now gotten into all this. I even had a PowerMac and a website for a while (around the time FB took off, which sucked me right in and “trapped me” for 10 years lol)

                My curl wttr conky widget

                ${texeci 1800 curl 'wttr.in/Pecos?q?0?T'}

                I place it the bottom of all my antiX conkys.

                Had typical day yesterday. Tech did not show up, call, or anything yesterday. Will see what happens later on today.

                Been on this chrome book mostly

                Fighting blueman-applet and blueman-manager with this internal bluetooth that inxi shows above and am not sure btusb driver is up to this task on this chromebook.
                My older Dell laptop with antiX 21/22 runs and pairs and connects up just fine because I bought a guaranteed linux and blueman usb bluetooth dongle .

                Blueman would not play nice either with some of the other dongles I tried. Anyways. That is what I am blaming on Blueman problems on this chromebook. My internal bluetooth on my NUC box with antiX 22 64bit full on it won’t play nice with blueman either. I won’t start a thread on hardware that is too much of a hassle to get going till I figure out what the deal is.

                Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.

                  (^hope I did that right^)
                  all that space, just waiting…
                  lol

                  I have two other weird issues I want to resolve… the WIFI light on the front of the laptop blinks on/off now, like it’s gauging the traffic. Some times it goes solid on for a bit longer, like really early in the morning. IDK, it’s just kinda annoying being right there. It never did this b4. Also, the mute light does not come on, kind of throws me off when I forget I muted (it also doesn’t show on the taskbar) BUT, like I said, it doesn’t crash anymore… gets hung up sometimes, but so did Win, as it’s only got 1G of RAM. Can’t open 10 tabs and all that lol

                    Going around to all of my distros today; was on PCLinuxOS, then openSUSE, now Debian Sid; also dropped by MX Linux, which is currently controlling my boot loader, so I wanted to update it too. By the end of this exercise I’ll hopefully be back on antiX.

                    Currently on siduction, so here’s what this lovely system looks like when I’ve got it busy doing a few things:

                        ::

                        I switched over to my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop. This is my large laptop; it’s pretty heavy, especially compared to my newest HP-14.
                        Comparing the two, feature-wise I like this one. It has a better keyboard, larger display, and it has good, solid construction.
                        Speed-wise, the HP-14 does better, though the “late” (deceased, at least to me) Acer Aspire 5 A515-55 was easily my fastest system.
                        If only the EFI/BIOS was an easier to use design I’d probably still have the Acer; unfortunately I had to reinitialize the firmware
                        and when I did, it was looking for a password, one that I could not recover, and not finding a suitable way to resolve it after a
                        few days of searching, I stuck with these systems instead.

                        I’m not fond of the HP keyboard (only the HP-14; other models have been pretty good in general). It has a heavy feel, and does not
                        give back a solid feel in spite of the heaviness, nor does it have backlit keys, whereas both the Dell and the Acer have backlit keys.

                        With that, here’s my latest setup on this nicely aging Dell:

                              Troubleshooting a bug with my antiX spin on an older Asus laptop. No closer to fixing the bug, but everything else seems to be working from the spin ISO.

                                @techore: nice to see you mix it up a bit: nontraditional shell: fish, different WM: dwm, demonstrating clearly the fact that even with lean, efficient software we have choices!

                                As for me, I’m doing the “same ole’ thing, but I’m just stopping by before spending weekend time with my wife!
