::Skipped course one of the seven courses, helped prepare and serve course 2, my wife’s Italian fish stew “Bacalla” and served course 3 shrimp and awaiting courses 4-7; next meal course is crab cakes and I believe Calamari is after that, then mussels and Cannoli dessert.

::Over the past 1-2 days since I came back to my main HP-14 laptop I’ve used EndeavourOS, antiX, and PCLinuxOS. Each of them is quite good in their particular “sweet spot”.
Of course, antiX is arguably the number one “lean and mean” distribution. There are other good, light distributions too, but those of us here enjoy antiX because the distribution recognizes the importance of USB technology, SSD technology and also support for very old hardware that is still supported on a very limited number of systems.
EndeavourOS is a great rolling release style of distribution based on Arch Linux. It’s fast and efficient, and it provides a good combination between efficiency and convenience; it’s definitely been my best personal experience with any software having anything to do with Arch Linux or one of its offspring. For followers who hang out predominantly on Debian-based systems, the closest Debian analogy to EndeavourOS would be the very good distribution siduction, which is a fast, efficient implementation based on Debian Sid software.
As for PCLinuxOS, this distribution evolved from a developer creating additional packages for Mandrake Linux and similar RPM-based distributions. Eventually the developer, known as Texstar, created PCLinuxOS around the same approximate time-frame that Warren Woodford created MEPIS and Simply MEPIS, the beginning of the spin-off from Debian software that provided a complete, stable, easy to use system. From MEPIS came antiX, and from the exit of MEPIS after the 2011 release, users from the antiX and MEPIS Lovers communities created MX Linux.
Today PCLinuxOS is kind of a hodge-podge of everything; whatever Linux applications you generally use are, in most cases, available for PCLinuxOS. It is not necessarily the most elegantly designed system, but pragmatically speaking, it works very well and the result is a good, general purpose overall distribution, one that I often keep handy because multi media stuff generally works here, and as long as the system has the resources necessary to use it, the system works well.
So there you have my personal opinions about three very good Linux distributions that are about as different from each other as possible, yet they each do their respective functions and suit their specific user base very well.

::Oh yeah, as I’m writing these notes, I am indeed using PCLinuxOS, also using an alternative Web browser called Slimjet; I installed my own instance to get the latest version, which works quite well with PCLinuxOS. The PCLinuxOS ecosystem also provides a rich ecosystem of available Web browsers, including Slimjet and many others.

::Regarding Slimjet software releases, like a good distribution, it looks like PCLinuxOS quickly caught up and appears to have the current version available, another “good point” for this distribution – current software updates.
