antiX 22 runit dwm unofficial beta 7 on a Asus UX330UAK which was my daily driver.

Upgraded from antiX 5.10 kernl to a Liquorix 6.1 Kernel to resolve an issue with its Intel Bluetooth chipset. Originally, my intent was to bump the kernel to 5.15.x which is being purported to fix the issue but the Liquorix install script installed 6.1. What I get for not reading the script more closely. /shrug. I will do it manually next time.

It’s Christmas Eve here in South Carolina. A couple of years before we moved here we had two sets of family relatives move to this area and I think it was 2016 that we enjoyed 75 degree Fahrenheit temperatures on Christmas day. However, this season is giving us the coldest nights we’ve seen in the 4+ years we’ve lived here, comparable to the temperatures in the northern states. We reached a low of 8 degrees, and we are expecting a high of 33 degrees, but sometime next week they’re expecting a major increase to Springlike temperatures – in the sixties for a day or two! I guess these are the “climate changes” that some people complain about.

We’re literally “staying in” today, to the point that we may not leave our senior apartment. There are holiday movies on and plenty of American football games to watch too.

As for antiX, it’s still running very well. I got on the Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop yesterday; it’s running antiX and several other distributions fine, though a few weeks ago I accidentally dropped this system on a hard surface and the laptop keys are not as well seated as they once were; the system works, but the keyboard, once the best of the systems I currently own, isn’t quite as good as it was.

As for the HP-14, it’s doing fine; this keyboard doesn’t have backlit keys; in retrospect I wish I had chosen one that did, but I don’t have to use it in the evening much, so no big deal.

Here’s the stats with a browser, file manager and terminal running:

@masinic et al, happy holiday and stay warm. I am seeing the news on the your weather. Looks awful.

This is my new daily driver once I finish the dwm spin. I am hopeful to have all the winkles worked out with one more beta, but a Christmas release isn’t going to happen as I hoped. I have a week off in January and it will be published in January in whatever state it is in come the end of my vacation.

On one of my two Dell Latitude D610’s that I got for ten bucks each. Got them both running nice and they do everything I need but not speed demons. A comfortable 15 degrees F outside now. Better than the 0 last night.

                        @oldfisherman:
When they were newer, the D series Dell laptops were among the best for use with Linux and also a very good general purpose laptop.

I’m glad they still work for you.

Regarding the weather, it’s 22°F here now with much more seasonal 40° high temperatures and 27° low, normal for this region. We also had single digit low temperatures one morning and lows in the teens for a couple of days, the lowest I have seen since moving to South Carolina.

                        Michigan, yes. New Hampshire, yes.
Both states have zero and subzero days from time to time. In the South it’s very unusual.

Was on the shop IBM wireless desktop earlier. Putting up shop lights which was my Christmas present.

On my chromebook now while my other chromebook needs over 2 hours to make a new backup online.
At least that is what it told me.

Still gotta play with my shop bluetooth speaker on wheels. My other Christmas present.

Good stuff. Now that I’m looking at the image I see why it is a “shop bluetooth speaker on wheels.”

Already updated my antiX setup and listened to some music. Just updated my siduction system as I’m going through the updates.
Gotta say, this one is “Sid’ or ‘unstable’ in name only; rarely see anything malfunctioning on this system, and if it’s “off”, by the time I get to it a fix is in the next update or it’s working. Good, fast distribution, one of the best ways to experience Sid.

As far as antiX goes, my Bullseye instance, which I primarily use with runit, has been and continues to work very well.
