::On that Acer Aspire T180 you can get the initial memory usage a lot lower than I can on most, if not all, of my current systems.
I remember back in the day, with ONLY my old Dell Dimension 4100, I vaguely remember doing some memory testing with antiX and really light window managers. Back then, I think IceWM slightly edged all of the others, but they were ALL light back then, ranging from 58M to 62 M after login, using just a light GUI and an equally light terminal. Yours, at around 151180 on a 64-bit system is about as lean as we’re gonna get; until someone can report something lighter, looks like you win the lightweight 64-bit prize; anything lighter almost HAS to be on a 32-bit system!--

::What do you think of our new icon to indicate whether or not there are unread posts in a particular topic?
The icon on the left shows GREEN when there are unread posts and tan/brown when the thread has been read.You can either click on this icon to read the most recent post(s) in a topic or you can click on the date
in the Last Post column.Also our webmaster added a “Mark all topics as read” button on the main page below the Announcements
and the Latest Activity.The site is doing better, though there are still a few cases where the site has briefly gone off-line.
My personal opinion is what it has been all along: brute force attacks appear to be responsible;
talking with our webmaster, they tend to agree; in fact, we definitely had the site compromised;
thanks are in order to our excellent webmaster, who, like all of us, is also a volunteer!pinxi -v2 System: Host: brian-antix-hp-14fq1025nr Kernel: 6.1.4-x64v3-xanmod1 arch: x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: IceWM v: 3.3.0 Distro: antiX-21-runit_x64-full Grup Yorum 30 October 2021 Machine: Type: Laptop System: HP product: HP Laptop 14-fq1xxx v: N/A serial: <superuser required> Mobo: HP model: 887C v: 59.11 serial: <superuser required> UEFI: AMI v: F.18 date: 11/26/2021 Battery: ID-1: BAT0 charge: 40.6 Wh (99.8%) condition: 40.7/40.7 Wh (100.0%) CPU: Info: 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics [MT MCP] speed (MHz): avg: 2066 min/max: 1400/4056 Graphics: Device-1: AMD Lucienne driver: amdgpu v: kernel Device-2: Chicony HP TrueVision HD Camera type: USB driver: uvcvideo Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 1.20.11 driver: X: loaded: amdgpu unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa dri: radeonsi gpu: amdgpu resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz API: OpenGL v: 4.6 Mesa 20.3.5 renderer: AMD RENOIR (DRM 3.49.0 6.1.4-x64v3-xanmod1 LLVM 11.0.1) Network: Device-1: Realtek driver: rtw89_8852ae Drives: Local Storage: total: 238.47 GiB used: 28.04 GiB (11.8%) Info: Processes: 271 Uptime: 3h 57m Memory: 7.11 GiB used: 2.13 GiB (30.0%) Shell: Bash pinxi: 3.3.24-4--

Thanks for information, I hadn’t noticed it yet.
The private messages seem to be still under suspicion, they are not yet reactivated.January 10, 2023 at 11:51 pm #97135Moderator

::The work is not 100% complete; I just summarized things that need to be accomplished.
We have a submit button in gray, search is currently disabled and plugins for several previous capabilities have been deactivated.
Some of them are no longer supported by WordPress; some of the remaining work will determine which options remain.
Please be patient; the webmaster is busy tomorrow and will continue helping out on Thursday.
Thanks for everyone’s help and cooperation; it does seem that the issues that took us off-line are reduced in their impact;
work will continue to come up with different plugin options or other alternatives.For search, temporarily use a Web browser to search, specify the antiX Forum and the items necessary to search;
some search engines are better than others in combining search terms.--

That’s up to anticapitalista to decide.
Though it may be helpful I think it is best to allow the webmaster to continue unless anti decides to have the two of you collaborate; that may be helpful, but it would be important to coordinate activities. Having two people changing things at the same time may result in different issues.

::I ordered two SanDisk Ultra Fit (TM) USB 3.1 Flash Drives; one of them, the one that I am using now, has a capacity of 64 GB.
The other one has a much larger 256 GB capacity.Just for fun and experimentation, I decided to put a distribution on it that I’ve used a lot in the past, but not recently: OpenMandriva Lx 23.01 ROME with kernel 6.1.1 desktop.
We were mentioning Live distributions in another topic. While this one is hardly the type of distribution that you’d want to run live all the time, it does boot from USB in live mode, like the majority of modern distributions these days, and it has an attractive flower in the foreground of the desktop that appears on a dark background. One of the high points on all Mandrake, Mandriva, and OpenMandriva, as well as Mageia, a community project by former Mandriva employees, is the art work; they all generally have very nice default images, plus additional graphical images and tools. One reason I moved in a different direction was that a couple of the versions had stability issues; while it’s difficult to tell how well this one would perform, to bring up a Web browser in the live environment, at least on a powerful system, was straightforward and easy.
I may give this one a try on my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop to see how well it works on a system that is several years old.

::Now running my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop using OpenMandriva Lx 23.01 ROME with kernel 6.1.1 desktop and the Falcon Web browser. Falcon only supports basic Yahoo Mail, but it works fine here with the antiX Forum software, arguably better than Chromium was running on the HP-14.

::Changed to Chromium; actually this live image, for whatever reason, seems to be running better here than it did on my smaller, newer HP-14 laptop. Just goes to show that certain things work well on one system and other things work better on another system. This Dell Inspiron 5558 is a classic system with longtime Linux support; maybe that is also a factor, though HP is another major brand that generally is well suppported too.
