::I don’t use SeaMonkey all the time.
I generally use Firefox with the Nightly image getting a decent share of use. I’ve sent in 2-3 nightly defects over the years and even isolated one defect to a short date range.
When I use non Firefox browsers I am nearly always using webmail or a forum, rarely any other uses so I don’t need a specific build. Recently I found a working Nightly image of SeaMonkey, allowing me to test it too so that’s another plus.

::As a direct result of using these browsers for my typical use cases they almost always work for me and I find and get corrected the rare issues and that’s why my simple use cases have excellent quality.
Admittedly they are also pretty simple cases but whatever infrastructure is used it helps me and helps these projects too.
My typical use also happens to be among the most common use so others benefit as well.--

::Brian,
apulse works for you with firefox? No pulseaudio installed? Apulse does not work for me on antix 19.5.
A light browser that does work perfectly with the forum is links2 (in graphical mode). You can log in, post replies, etc.

::apulse works for you with firefox?
At least on antiX19.2 full-upgraded, there is sound if firefox (108.0.1) is started eg from terminal with
apulse firefoxpulseaudio is not installed.

::Yes, apulse gives me sound. Without adding it in front of the browser call the Firefox browsers weren’t consistently providing sound, if ever, so first I tried it manually. I wrote a short script called null.bash that runs the arguments to the script through nohup and disposes of stdout and backgrounds the process.
I then enter null.bash apulse Firefox and sound works.
Once that was working I put the browser icon on the toolbar with those elements and it works.

::I’ve used links2 and it works.
I’ve used links2 with a few short scripts to provide consistent text output. For quite a while I was using it to get custom text weather reports.--

::Regarding the browsers, as a common example of my typical usage, today I’m using the Firefox Developer Edition. The new release came out this week, and I already have the next update on this one; today the version number is 110.0b2 (64-bit).
Similarly Firefox Nightly is 111.a1 and it’s updated daily until functional freeze, then it goes to the next version, so Nightly typically shows two release numbers greater than the release, Developer Edition and Beta Edition show one release number greater than the release.
I may go over to SeaMonkey, but since I’m on the forum and webmail, this Developer Edition is running fine; I also tried two different sites with at least audio, one with audio and video, and this Firefox Developer Edition handled both of them accurately, and delivered the requested media.
With active use of the browser and multiple tabs, here is the current resource use, along with unseasonably warm weather. It was very foggy here early this morning; it’s mostly cleared up, but with a cloud and fog cover, there wasn’t much radiated cooling overnight, and as the fog has, for the most part, cleared, we have a nice winter day, MUCH warmer than any usual temperatures for this time of year. Looking at the temperatures in various Texas communities, it’s warm there, so other Southerners, like my pal rokytnji, also have warm weather today.

::Revisiting the idea of using other really minimal web browsers with the forum: yes, for example, I can get to the forum with either links2 or netsurf; both get me in. Neither of them, however, provide me with a sufficiently easy to navigate interface; it’s difficult to locate things like the Forum pulldown; netsurf shows Forum, but when I used it, I did not see the pulldown feature for Recent Posts, Latest Topics, etc. If it’s there, it’s not intuitive to me where to find it. Similarly links2 gets to the site quickly, and for reading text rapidly it’s great, but for navigating WordPress forums such as ours, it’s far from ideal. Dillo is a great tool for reading plain text, such as some of our simple help files, but beyond that, it’s unfair to expect a lot; what it was designed to do it does well, as does links2 and even netsurf, but there’s no way any of them keep pace with all of the modern Web features, especially when you have highly customized CSS, or even very recent Javascript or some other recent web display interface.
SeaMonkey doesn’t even offer everything unless you add on additional capabilities, but it DOES do enough to work well with our forum, and also the couple of webmail accounts I use. Same with Palemoon. As has been mentioned, it’s possible to add additional capabilities to either browser, and it’s also possible to recompile either SeaMonkey or Palemoon to either include or exclude capabilities in order for them to work with newer or older systems and content.
After a while of using antiX, and now after using Firefox Release 109.0, Firefox Developer Edition 110.b2, and Firefox Nightly 111.0a1 (2023-01-18) (64-bit), plus a few quick visits to links2, elinks, and netsurf, the following resources are currently in use after quite a bit of activity on and off here today.

I’m using antiX 22 and apulse is the default way to use audio with antiX. I found that using the command line to run, the commands are pretty straightforward. I use nohup; I wrote a shell script to make it easy, then created a couple of alias commands to run it:
#!/bin/bash # File: null.bash # Purpose: Provide a mechanism to run detached processes # conveniently without tying up the terminal or typing # in very long commands. # Author: Brian Masinick if [ -z "$1" ] # Checks if parameter #1 is zero length then echo "No program parameter provided" return 1 fi if [ -z "$2" ] # Checks if parameter #2 is zero length then nohup $1 > /dev/null 2>&1 & else nohup $1 $2 > /dev/null 2>&1 & fichmod +x null.bash./null.bash apulse /home/masinick/firefox-nightly/firefox https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-here-with-today/
opens Firefox Nightly in the background and takes me to this thread.--

::I discovered that SeaMonkey does not accept multiple web page references URLs) when initially starting the browser. You definitely can do it with Firefox and the documents describing the arguments and behavior of SeaMonkey indicate that it’s available. I can add multiple tabs and gain access to multiple pages but I have not found the right combination to do it from the initial command. I’ll keep looking and if I cannot get this working I will file a defect report, but I’m doing my homework and make sure I haven’t made an error, but it does appear that I found a defect that I previously missed.
Testing a change in my null.bash script exposed this when I tested it with SeaMonkey.
