::By the end of the day I have run antiX 22 and antiX 23 Beta 1 on my HP-14 and I used MX Linux to check out Conky configuration choices, then I used the February antiX 23 Alpha 1 and replaced it with Beta 1.
Good practical every day use cases on the HP-14 and Dell using antiX 23.

::I’m back again today with antiX 23 Beta 1, currently using my personal Web browser collection, which is a typical use case for me, and it continues to go well.
My interim testing of various items in the menu has also gone well. I’ve seen a few of the extraneous messages; as anticapitalista has stated, they are notle significant, and I’ve made minor adjustments to clear most of them.I’ve not touched every possible option yet, but what I’ve tried so far has worked as expected and we’ve definitely made some progress, including the inclusion of the V6.1.18 kernel, which allows me to use either of the systems that I typically use. I may try one of my other older systems later to see how well they like the new image.

::I’m here with my HP 5000 series s5747c desktop computer, and today it’s an installed instance. I’ve been testing browsers, the Children’s Education packages, Dave’s new GIT version of the App Select tool and general antiX 23 Beta 1 testing. I’ve been reporting on those update in the Beta 1 topic.
Here is the update today.

::HP-14 this morning with antiX 23 Beta 1. Not sure if it’s our local WiFi or something else, but since I logged in here the network has been bouncing up and down multiple times in just the short time I’ve been on here. I did not notice this behavior when I was on MX Linux immediately before this, but that’s not necessarily indicative of anything because we get occasional blips when someone is doing something with our facility router and they don’t tell us (some of us KNOW that it’s happening, hint, hint)!
Here are today’s settings, only slightly modified recently.

::@rokytnji: In my mind, you’ll always be “a rock”, if not a “superman”. Besides, our distancing from being a spring chicken has certainly evolved at the same pace.
I was “middle age” at the most when I started with antiX, and I was still relatively young when I started with Linux, and DEFINITELY young (under 30) when I first used MULTICS, less than a year before my first actual “hands on” with a UNIX system! How time flies! Sometimes I still feel young, that is, until I either stand up or look in the mirror, then I realize that while reasonably healthy, I’m a retired senior citizen living in a Senior Citizen retirement community, though my wife and I are definitely the youngest (more than five years) of the people living here, so at least we’re still “young”, but only in comparison to those around us!
I think you do great with these Chromebooks. I attempted to take an old, inexpensive Lenovo N22 and turn it into a Chromebook. Attempting to do it directly flat out failed. Whatever that Chrome lookalike, I think it’s Cloud Ready or something like that, it didn’t work well either. So purchased or not, this is great!
I’m using a real Chromebook, an Acer Chromebook 715. It has a solid aluminum construction, so it’s heavier and more rugged than the average Chromebook. It WAS also more expensive, but I managed to snag it in a very wise purchase period just before the pandemic during one of those pre-holiday sales. While this model is no longer sold, you have to go into some of the higher price ranges to get one as good or better than this one. Even at a couple years old it matches or beats the performance of my newest computer running either antiX or siduction, two of the fastest – antiX is fast because it’s lean; siduction is fast because it is well optimized to effectively use system cache, so these are two of the best performing Linux distros, and ChromeOS on a system that I believe is a 2019 model still does very well.
I’ll be back with another antiX instance; once I double check which one I was using earlier, I’ll run the other one and update it. Cheers to all who are “here” today!
